2008-2011 Subaru Impreza Radio Removal and Pioneer Headunit Install (Including ASWC-1 setup)
This video shows how to remove the OEM headunit and install a Pioneer FH-S700BS headunit in a 2010 Subaru Impreza. A similar procedure is used for 2008-2011 Impreza and Impreza WRX.
We used the AutoHarnessHouse.com Pioneer Direct wire adapter for this install which makes everything plug-and-play except the AXXESS ASWC-1 wiring. These adapters are available for most other Subaru models as well as Toyota and other manufacturers. Please visit our website or contact AutoHarnessHouse.com support at inquiry@autoharnesshouse.com for more information!

Thanks for the video mate. Very helpful
Thank you for the product and the extremely helpful video. I was able to install a Pioneer Head Unit (DMH-46600 NEX)without any issues following the instructions provided (08 WRX/STI).

Awesome
Bro I am looking to rebuy stock unit. I have exact same car and I need to know those connectors at the back where do they go connect to? The FM wire, and extra ground. Those 2 I dont see em back there coz i have an aftermarket head unit at the moment

The AM/FM antenna is connected to the Pioneer (or other aftermarket headunit) directly. There isn't an adapter for this so if you have AM/FM radio now, you'll just move the connector back to the headunit that you're installing. The extra ground wire will probably be dangling back there somewhere.
would you happen to know why my radio reception is very bad on my 08 sti? it came with an aftermarket radio, bad reception back then, upgraded to the android head unit, radio still sucks, read somewhere that subarus use a 12v for better radio reception, but not sure which wire that is. i plug in the regular anthenna connector then switch to the android anthenna connector, but same problem

There's an AM/FM amplifier power wire that probably isn't connected. On the aftermarket wiring adapter, it will usually be a blue wire with a white stripe. You will find it either on the 14-pin connector (for cars that originally came with navigation) or on the 20-pin connector (for non-navi cars)
hey helpful video! i just got my Pioneer FHX730BT and couldnt plug it in. Do i need only the adapter or the Sirius too? will it even work on this particular system? FHX-730 BT thanks!

The direct wire adapter (AHH-70-7552P) will work with the FH-X730BT but since the unit doesn't have a video screen, there is one modification that you'll need to make to the harness. See the guide here: www.autoharnesshouse.com/PioneerDW.html You will only need the SiriusXM box if you're going to use SiriusXM on your radio.

@@autoharnesshouse will the dash kit fit on the FHX 730 BT or are the dimensions different?

@@ventocz6476 Yes, the dash kit that we used in this video will fit the FH-X830BHS!
Thanks for the great instruction. I am from France and I am driving a 2011 STI with the 5 (and not 6) buttons stearing wheel control and the 3 buttons for bluetooth. I am going to install a Pioneer SPH-DA360DAB and I plan on retaining the steering wheel control. Could you tell me if the AHH-70-7552P will work with the ASWC-1 or do I need to modify the harness? Many thanks in advance

For the 5 button controls, use the AHH-70-7552PS : www.autoharnesshouse.com/AHH-70-7552PS.html

@@kood74 glad it helped! There isn't much that we can do about shipping. We've found that if we use cheap international shipping then sometimes it doesn't arrive. I wish it wasn't that way!

@@autoharnesshouse Your harness is working like a charm since 5 months and the install was so easy to do. I figured that I should have take the option 2 of the AHH-70-7552PS to bypass the parking break safety and I don't really know how I can do to retrofit this harness. Do you have a sollution for me maybe? Thank you in advance.
I’m going to be buying a pioneer head unit for my 08 Impreza, what other harnesses/wires will I need?
@autoharnesshouse
2 жыл бұрын
If your Impreza does not have OEM navigation, you'll need the AHH=70-7552P: www.autoharnesshouse.com/AHH-70-7552P.html If you do have OEM Navigation, you'll need the AHH-70-8901: www.autoharnesshouse.com/AHH-70-8901.html The only other wiring/adapters that you'll need is the AXXESS ASWC-1 (www.autoharnesshouse.com/10/ASWC-1.html) and IF you want to keep the auxiliary port in the console, you'll need a custom 8-pin adapter. Please contact AutoHarnessHouse directly for that one.
What color wire connects to the axxess in the 2010 imlreza ?

I'm not sure if I understand your question. Did you see 1:57 in the video? This will tell you where each of the wires connects on both the AXXESS connector and on the AHH-70-7552P adapter.
I have yet to find a stereo that is the same as mine, I have a clarion box above the head unit that screws in between the 4 screws that hold the head unit in, anyone know what that would be ?
@devontufts9915

All of the stereo components are factory clarion, maybe the box above head unit is an amp of some sort?
@autoharnesshouse
2 жыл бұрын
Several Subaru vehicles have Clarion systems. This isn't too unusual but it will probably depend some on the model and year of your car. Some cars have a Sirius XM tuner box that sites under the headunit. Not sure about an amp. You can email a picture to us at inquiry@autoharnesshouse.com and we can take a look!
Looks like I have two 20 pin connectors, what is the black one for?
@autoharnesshouse
2 жыл бұрын
The black 20-pin plug is an aux connector. This will connect to a separate CD changer or a media hub (which is how older Subarus connect USB devices). There isn't anything on this connector that can be re-used with an aftermarket headunit.
