I’ve got a 2013 S550 fully loaded. I drive it daily it’s amazing. I especially love the soft close door feature. Keeps from having to slam them which often causes window regulator failure. All the 2007 to 2009 V8 models have a severe engine failure problem involving the the main crankshaft timing gear. It should have been recalled by Mercedes as its very expensive to get fixed. Any engine that has not had this engine out repair performed will suffer total engine failure at some point. This was fixed for the face-lifted model from 2010 onwards. But all in your dad has a very sharp looking s class! Black should be the only color available on them lol

Thanks for the heads-up on the crankshaft timing gear. Major scary. I was just looking at one for 9K. Checked the VIN and didn't see it repaired. Real shame, as I loved this car.

There were different engines for various models. Apparently not all had this issue. Worth a little research.

@@836dmar it was just the v8 models. From 07- to 09. Most times it was unto the customer to pay for the repair. However some of the better Dealers did this as “courtesy to their customers” at no charge. But I believe obviously only of the car was purchased new as the original owner.

I thought there were some V8 engine codes that didn’t have this issue - like the s500/550. I think I read that on the Mercedes Medic site.

The reason why Mercedes-Benz don't have a pass through for the rear seat it's because that's where the fuel tank is located , there's option where you can add a cooler witch sacrifices about 6 gallons from the fuel tank.

Thanks for the video I just bought the same car blind purchase. My car is in mint condition 1 owner 77,000 Miles. I was trying to figure out why I had AMG Rims but not the logos. So I have the AMG package lol. The only options I don't have is wood grain steering wheel, the adaptive cruise control and night vision.

I have this same car black on black AMG package. Mine has 125k on it and has a few modifications like exhaust x-pipe and resonators and muffler delete (still quiet), OE Tuning Stage 1 ECU tune, limo tinted doors, sunroof, and back window, 35% tinted windshield, yellow fog lights, debadged the trunk S550 emblems, all red LED 10-13 style tail lights, LED license plate light housings, added cross drilled rotors in the rear to match the front, ceramic pads all around, and painted the calipers red.

It is a beauty!

I have a 2008, black on black, but the 4matic

I bought a 2007 3 years ago and now I'm seeing these posts about the engine issues. I drove it cross country and haven't had any issues so, hopefully I won't. The issue's I've have were the blower motor dying right as summer was amping up.. I now live in Phoenix so that wasn't a good look. I replaced it myself, it was relatively easy. Screw it, can't worry about it now but of course I will..... It has 126k miles.... The only issue I'm having is with the interior lights short timing. They don't stay on for the time programed and they turn off about 2 seconds after unlocked the vehicle prior to getting in. I was actually one KZread trying to find a fix for that and got info. I didn't want about my damn engine....

I LOVE TO RIDE IN MINE DAILY.

The s600 is 510 hp while this one is 382hp. I guess, the s600 would be my first option when it comes to speed, but, as far as design and style, id go for this s550 AMG package - but id expect the AMG package to be faster & more beastmode. 🤔

The package and the actual s65 amg are different. The package is just body kit and exhaust tips the actual s65 amg is around 638 hp and 701 tq

Looks great, especially for the year. Big fan of W221s. Now I know that the '07s have issues with the engine. Any issues with yours? I'm interested in purchasing a well kept one. Thanks.

Gerry Colucci other than an oil leak that was fixed the engine has been pretty reliable. The air ride suspension has caused some problems and the starter was replaced recently. It’s a nice car but maintence can be costly. It’s smart to find a specialist. The W221 is one of my favorites from Mercedes!

I’ve had my 07 S550 for three years. Bought it with 94k miles, and it now has 136k. I’ve had no issues with the engine at all. I have had to replace the conductor plate in the transmission which was $2300. Must be completed at the dealer. The build quality is incredible. Leather looks like brand new! The ventilated seats are a joke. Fan blows but you can’t feel anything. No air ride problems at all. Have spent quite a bit trying to get the front end from squeaking and popping. It’s better but still some noises. I’ve decided to just ignore the noises. It’s depreciated so badly, it’s not worth spending any more money it. Still runs good, looks great, and is a classy car.

So Harrison what has the better ride the Roadmaster or the Mercedes

I drove the S550 and it felt smooth. The steering and handling with the smooth ride i think made it overall better. I think the Roadmaster is a bit softer though, even with the new shocks so it feels like it should. The S550 has a more sporty feel obviously haha.

Yeah they can afford it luckily. It's very expensive to repair these cars. My dad found a specialist who charges a fraction of what the dealer charges. He unfortunately learned that the hard way the first time.

The dealers are a rip off. Find a specialists and you’ll be spending not much more than Cadillac to own and operate but you’ll have a superior car!

Parts are available online if you do your own work. I generally won’t let others work on our vehicles but if one can’t be bothered one must pay the price.

The seats aren't embroidered AMG logo. I didn't see the AMG logo on the brake calipers or on the exhaust tips
