Short tutorial how I installed:
1. Create Windows Partition in Mac Disk Utility
2. Take out the HDD from the Macbook
3. Put it into a PC and boot from Windows 10 USB Stick/DVD
4. Start the Installation and select the partition you just created on the Mac HDD
5. Let it start the installation
6. Upon FIRST REBOOT, shutdown the PC, take out the HDD and put it back into the Macbook
7. Boot up the Macbook and select Bootcamp partition
8. The Windows 10 Installation should continue normally
9. After Windows finished installing, download the Bootcamp Software 5.1.5.722
10. Run CMD or PowerShell as administrator
11. CD into BootCamp5.1.5722/BootCamp/Drivers/Apple
12. Run 'BootCamp.msi' and let it install all the drivers
13. After next reboot you should have everything working (Webcam, function keys, Bluetooth, etc.)

Awesome video. I've been trying to install win 10 on my 2007 white MacBook for the past year since I dug it out of storage. Unfortunately MacOSX kept crashing when I tried to create a partition for windows so I decided to try and get rid of Mac OS and just run Windows on it (I was on Lion which is the latest MAC OS that is supported on my machine and, frankly, its useless now anyway). Instead of creating a partition in Mac OS I just used an SSD as an external drive and formatted it in Mac OS to MBR (I don't know whether this was necessary really but I did it anyway just in case). Then I stuck it in a PC and followed this video from that point. Works. Perfectly. Absolutely awesome and this old MacBook is finally more than an unwanted antique

May I ask how did you format your disk, I have a disk with no os and try to format to msd from a mac, then when inserted on a windows computer to install windows 10 , appears a double partition, the EFI Partition and the unallocated partition, but it does not allow me to install windows here, so I need to format again in order to do so, I leave the efi partition out and format the unallocated part, installed windows, take it out before the first restart but no success so far. I am missing something, I am doing a wrong format?
Your video now helps me a lot to solve the problem of trackpad driver and function keys. I just got a Macbook 4,1 (early 2008) and decided to install win 7 64 bit, but I had the same problems as you, it wouldn't boot from my usb. I had to fix it by inserting an external CD/DVD drive and it worked!! Now I want to replace the hard drive with a 320gb one and see how it works. Thanks for uploading this video!

Very good information video!
I just went into this nightmare and it surprised me a lot how hard it was to get w10 working properly on this machine. At this point I just wanted to see if it was capable, and although the performance is far from ideal, I'd say it's pretty usable, with some hardware upgrades I'm sure it will improve. I took a little shorter (and less painful) path to install w10 after trying and failing a lot to install it directly from a stick. First I got a w7 iso (from the Internet Archive) and installed it with Boot Camp as every normal person would do (with a small tweak into Boot Camp's info.plist to allow it to install w7 from a USB flash drive), including drivers, once I got it all working, I installed every update I could (not a lot), activated the OS, and, from a w10 iso, I updated the OS. It took around an hour and a half but once it was done it worked beautifully, the Boot Camp software and drivers were still there. It runs hella hot tho 😂
ive done a similar thing with my 2006 a1181 but with ubuntu 64bit. found a great video awhile back by some guy but hes since de-listed it.. thanks for this, ive been searching for a way to use win10 64 bit on it for quite awhile

@@ilbulga Apple prefers their computers to be silent, that's why they configure Mac OS to keep the fan speed down. They much rather have super high temps than make noise. Windows ramps up the fans earlier
I'm pretty sure the USB 2.0 standard didn't require support for being able to boot from USB, and installing an OS in that way wasn't really the norm yet back then. The manufacturers making the USB 2.0 controller chips on the board probably didn't include that functionality as it wasn't within the spec. Or maybe it was an issue of the particular EFI BIOS itself not allowing you to boot from USB. Either way, this is cool and I'm glad it worked.
Ok i did it with windows 7 pro, and let me say THANK YOU!!! boot camp was refusing to co-operate cuz it was 64 bit.

You can achieve the same thing by creating a USB stick with Windows setup on it, creating an image of it with Winclone, and cloning the image onto a spare disk partition. You need to boot off that and then start the setup in the regular fashion. Just let it copy the files onto the same partition. Tested on an iMac (Mid 2011) with a dead optical drive and no support for legacy USB boot.

For anyone having trouble with the trackpad: Macbook Pro 3.1 late 2007 First of all i did this on a clean install, so you might need to do that too, because i could not uninstall bootcamp. Just reset windows through restore. Get bootcamp 4.0.4033. Navigate with file explorer to bootcamp4.0.4033\drivers\apple. Right click bootcamp64 > compatibility > previews version of windows. If not, it will say it requires windows 7. CMD in admin mode to bootcamp4.0.4033\drivers\apple. Type bootcamp64.msi and install it normally. Restart. After this i have everything working, including trackpad and keyboard with full functionality (tap to click, 2 fingers scroll, illumination, function keys etc.). Thank you for this vid, the installation method was brilliant. Windows 10 64 works great, better than any other linux distros i've tried. Temps are OKish... So when you created the second partition on your single drive for the sake of doing this install, you just used the Apple Disk Utility within whichever verson of OS X you currently had on the laptop before installing Windows 10? For a machine this old, it would probably mean Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, which is what mine still has. Would that work?

@@ThePeter567 Yes, I stole the drivers and bootcamp software from a few different versions, with 4 being one of them. Sound is extra tricky the 2,1 doesn't use Realtek audio, but IDT SigmaTel, so it never get's picked up correctly by Windows. It's really not fun. Also Speedstep didn't work correctly on my unit, so the computer slowed to 1GHz and would never go back up when cooled down. Changing thermal paste and cleaning the cooler didn't help. Great Video. Someone gave me a late 2007 Macbook and I want to convert to Windows. Few questions: 1. Can i partition using Boot camp utility (I was able to do this, but of course didn't work with the windows 10 install through bootcamp but it did create the partition).--or do I need to partition using disk utilities. 2. If I only want to keep the most minimum partition for Mac OS and the rest for Windows, what is the minimum GB partition for Mac OS? 3. Or do you just recommend to get rid of the Mac OS completely and just install the Windows only (negating the need for any partition) 4. I have a Windows 10 (64 Bit) installer on a USB stick I used to install on a Macbook Air 2012 and Mac Mini (late 2012) and the install was simple . Can I use the same installer USB or do I have to do something different? (I'm not familiar with UEFI etc). 5. The windows 10 installer i have is Windows 10 Pro (64 Bit). you think that'll be ok with 4GB RAM or do I need to install the 32 bit (Which I don't have and not sure if my Win 10 PRO 64 bit code will work). 6. Lastly, I have a Macbook Pro 2006 (Intel Core Duo -32 bit). Do you think this same process will work, or will it not work on that model? Thank you
@MacintoshMen
3 жыл бұрын
I suppose Bootcamp could create the partition but I would just do it in Disk Utility. The minimum size is basically what disk utility would allow you to resize it to then. About the USB question, those Macs (2012) have a completely different UEFI, therefore it booted. That process doesn't work on those older Macs (2006, 2007). That's why I created this video. On 2006 it's the same procedure as long as you use a 32 bit installer.

It just says you can't boot into it and it freezes
Can you give me link that bootcamp with zip file on gdrive
After i install bootcamp . 5.1.5722 .. my touchpad don't work anymore

Did you create a second partition for Windows already? In Disk utility or using the bootcamp assistant?

@@MacintoshMen boot camp doesn't let me create anything because there is an option that won't come out that shows up on every tutorial of it and when I look for one to correct that issue the files don't exist anymore so I don't get it lol
yo bro, nobody from the macos community really appreciates custom isos. It'd be cool if you could try install a custom gaming iso on this like reviOS or ggOS, they reduce processes and it'd be cool to see how fast it could run in comparison to stock w10. it lets me get good fps on most games on my 2013 mac haha
Hello. I was able to install windows it after installing bootcamp the trackpad got disabled. Also the bootcamp didn’t install the iSight webcam driver or the sound. No yellow ? On the sound driver when I check.all the top row function keys work after bootcamp install and I can see the boot camp menu in the bottom right taskbar. Any ideas how to get the trackpad working the iSight cam working and the sound ? I used the bootcamp drivers from the link you provided. Thanks.

If you used the same file from the link the only thing I could imagine causing the problem is that you have a different year Macbook.

Yes, you can follow the same procedure.
Got refit to work by flashing it to a USB drive keeping it plugged in instead of installing it on the machine I could not get that to work Process I used was flash refit to a USB powered down the machine plug in the USB put in a burned disc of Ubuntu 64-bit power on machine hold option go into refit select Ubuntu install Ubuntu but you'll run into an issue where you won't have keyboard drivers so you have to spam enter then your boot into the installer still no keyboard drivers so you have to wait and it will install on its own and you'll get keyboard control back it was the same way with Windows
any chance i could get a link to the drivers? i deleted my mac os partition a long time ago and have no way of downloading some of the drivers youre using like the sound or multitouch keyboard.
