*UPDATE* EASILY Dual-Boot Windows 10 8 7 On An Unsupported Mac (2011 or Older) | Tutorial | RC Films

Фильм және анимация

THE WAY I SHOW IN THE VIDEO IS FOR BOOTCAMP 6.0.0.!!!!!
**For instructions on BootCamp 6.1.0, follow the guided steps below in step 2**
Hey guys! This is a tutorial on how to dual-boot Windows 10 on an Apple Computer that is not supported to run Windows 10. Apple only allows computers from 2012 and newer to dual-boot on a Windows 10 OS, and those that are older are only allowed to run Windows 7. But everyone wants the newest and the best, so why do those of us with older Macs have to suffer? Not anymore! By modifying bootcamp, we can now install Windows 10, 8, or 7!
In this video, I will show you have to do just that and more! I will be using a 2009 Macbook Pro with an Intel Core 2 Duo to dual-boot Windows 10. Just follow my step-by-step instructions. All Links are down below and feel free to comment with any problem or concern. I just ask that you be polite and kind, and I will be sure to try and get back to you as soon as I possibly can. Thanks!
**Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage done to your computer or hardware. This is something that you chose to do AT YOUR OWN RISK! So pay close attention to the details in the video and the description and you should be fine. Video for education purposes only.**
Step 1: Downloading Windows 10 and Bootcamp Support Software - 0:41
So the first thing that needs to be done is to download Windows 10 from the link below. Then go ahead and download the Bootcamp support software.
Links:
* www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...
* support.apple.com/kb/dl1635?l...
Step 2: Modify Bootcamp - 1:25
While the software is downloading, we can modify Bootcamp to allow our computer to create an install disk on our 8gb flash drive. Copy the app onto the desktop and then open the Info.plist in TextEdit. From there:
BOOTCAMP VERSION 6.0.0
Add your Boot ROM Version to DARequiredROMVersion
Then find PreUEFIModels and Delete the word "Pre" then add your Model Identifier number with the surrounding symbols
Find PreUSBBootSupportedModels and Delete the word "Pre" then add your Model Identifier
Once thats done find Win7OnlyModels and Remove your model number
BOOTCAMP VERSION 6.1.0
Then find PreUEFIModels and Delete the word "Pre" then add your Model Identifier number with the surrounding symbols
Find PreUSBBootSupportedModels and Delete the word "Pre" then add your Model Identifier
Once thats done find Windows10OnlyModels and add your model number to it.
Now Bootcamp can create a Windows 10 flash drive. Let the download finish before the next step.
Then save the document
Step 3: Backup Hard Drive and Create Windows 10 Install Flash Drive - 4:56
Now we make the bootable usb flash drive for Windows 10. Only select the first option in Bootcamp. We will get to those other two later. Once the install disk is created, put the Bootcamp Support file on your bootable usb flash drive. Next, copy your personal files to the other, larger usb stick. This to make sure that no files are lost during the process, just in case something goes wrong. You may delete those files after the whole process through step 8 are completed.
Step 4: Install Windows 10 - 6:38
Now we can create the partition and install windows 7 onto that. MAKE SURE you have enough space on the Windows side, because you cannot change it afterwards! You should chose to skip the product Key at this point as it is easier to upgrade and verify a product key later inside Windows 10. Write down the product key before you install Windows 10
Step 5: Bootcamp Setup - 7:51
Download the Apple support file onto the Windows side and run it in compatibly mode. All the drivers should install automatically. Now you can choose the start-up OS. The brightness, volume, and backlight keys should work now.
Step 6: Windows 10 Product Key - 10:00
Go into start-up and go to settings. Click the ‘Activation’ ribbon to insert your own product key. The non activated Windows 10 is legally free but you will have limited options. To get the full version of windows 10, you will have to use your own product key.
Step 7: Coprocessor Driver - 10:26
The coprocessor will not have a driver. Therefore, you must install one yourself. Go to the Device Manager and right click the coprocessor with the error sign on it. Select ‘Update Driver’ and aim the troubleshooter at the apple support file. To do that, select the file with your Apple support file.

FANTASTIC TIP !! it work perfectly on My MACBOOK 2009 5.3 running EL CAPITAIN OS. Only a few extra tips: 1) the copy take longer time than the video show. Wait ! 2) when Win starts install select BOOTCAMP partition then select FORMAT, otherwise it wont install 3) the installation takes up to 20GB disk, than remember this when partitioning your SSD. 4) take several hours to this job, you must wait a lot !!!! BUT IT WORKS just PERFECT !! congratulations , it is simple and it works !!

Just format it to NTFS in the installation and then the bootcamp installation will show up right after you finish installation. If you've got the "not enough space on USB" problem, that's because a single file in the win install is larger than 4g, which conflicts with the mac fat settings. If you have access to a pc, just format the USB drive and load the win 10 iso in there from PC. Then it works. (For some reason, bootcamp will not restart and install automatically though. You just have to restart and press alt, then choose the USB drive instead of the mac partition. At least that's how it worked for me ; )

It worked. Thanks a lot dude! I was able to install Win10_64bit_1909 on my MacBook Pro Late 2008 (MacBook Pro 5,1). Note for Boot Camp info.plist: Although my Mac (MacBook Pro 5,1) was not found in the "Win7OnlyModels" list, I had to remove also the model MacBook Pro 5,5 from list ( I don't know the reason, maybe "close family") , in order to be able to create the Win10 USB installation medium. Otherwise Boot Camp Assistant will allow to create only the Win 7 installation medium. For those facing problems at Boot Camp drivers installation, you need to use the proper Boot Camp version for your Mac. The version Boot Camp 4.0.4255 from this clip/guide will not work for all macs. In my case I had to install Boot Camp 4.0.4033 with compatibility settings of course.

You just simply runt BootCamp assistant from Catalina, make sure you have enough free space, create Windows partition and continue following the steps to install Windows. You saved my MacBook Pro Mid 2009 17". Thank you very much!! El Capitan; in June 2023, it is hopeless and there is no supported browser for OS X 10.11 today. If you want your old Mac to be fully functional, here is the only solution. I faced several issues when I tried following this video. Here are my notes. Hope it can help someone. 1) Boot Camp Installer couldn't run on Windows 10. When I tried to install the Boot Camp installer, it went straight to "Boot Camp installer completed" before I got "Welcome to the Boot Camp installer" which means Windows didn't install Boot Camp anyway. So I got back to OS X and downloaded "the latest Windows support software from Apple" on Boot Camp Assistant. Then it worked. 2) After finishing installing the Boot Camp installer, Windows 10 frequently froze. NVRAM reset worked. Now it works perfectly.

I'm getting stuck at the point where I run boot camp and everytime I get an error message saying that the USB drive I have used to boot onto doesn't have enough space on it to continue. The USB is 120g and completely empty. I went to the google IT expert and tried to listen to what they had to say, but it still hasn't helped. Maybe you or someone else on here might be able to give me a pointer to get past this point.

Thanks for the videos! Very helpful. I have a 13" MacBook Pro Mid 2010. I cannot get passed an error message right before selecting the mac/windows partition that says "Windows 8 is not supported on this Mac". I have successfully created the Windows 10 USB and have the updated Bootcamp files for windows, but I cannot get passed that message. I have watched lots and lots of videos and tried many combinations of edits to the BootCamp Info.plist document but cannot get that message to go away. Please help!!

On my 2011 MBP 15" with BootCamp 6.1.0 it says PreWindows10SupportedModels. Instead I deleted the Non out of Windows10NonSupportedModels added my identifier. Worked.

@@legarlowry I had the same problem with the last windows 10 iso (Oct 18). I downloaded the Apr 2018 iso and I didn't get the message" not enough space". The April version is a bit smaller, maybe that's the reason why it worked, honestly I don't know since I was using a 160gb USB drive... but it worked for me. Give a try.
