2006 Volkswagen New Beetle TDI… trying to get it started, and I Say goodbye to Ferdi!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I know I’ll regret it but it is time to move on to better and bigger things. Ferdi for sure will be in good hands and taken care of.
Also… I think I may have set the TDI on fire… lol

It's normal for diesel oil to be black. It's the nature of diesel. I would start with the fuel filter.

I have a 1980 Rabbit diesel P/U for over 40 years now... a 85 Diesel golf also... I always wanted a Beetle Diesel also.. but i was going to get a Canadian 1.9 non turbo diesel engine to put in it with a manual diesel pump... No computer diesel pump... I have never been able to find a Diesel bug that hasn't been just wore out... they have 23.5 to 1 compression... Take the oil fill cap off when it's running and see how much air is blowing pass the value guides... This could be the smoke you see coming out... The value guides in the heads don't not last long in these... Lower sulfur fuel sucks also... I always put a little 2 stroke oil in my fuel... also making the seals in the diesel pumps not go out... I have replaced many heads on my P/U... The other thing is the seals in the turbo's... It's why I hate turbo charged engines... And diesel engine oil will get dirty right after you change the oil also.. thats the nature of the beast... My Rabbit P/U now has 1 million 120 thousand miles on it now... It still looks like a new car... The value guides in the heads don't last long.. Turbo seals and value guides are the first to go out... You should never buy a diesel anything if you know nothing about them... bad glow plugs or less then 12 volts going to the fuel shut down switch will also keep them from starting... I know these diesels.. But lets face it... Everything they build these days from the factory is total junk... It's by design this way... To keep you buying more cars and getting money from you in the shops... I love the older diesel vw's.. To me they are as simple as a lawn mower to work on.... I've only owned 2 gas vw's.. one of those is the beetle I own now... But I'm going to find a 98 new beetle TDI some day... still looking (0: good luck with your project... turbo charger seals and value guides are the diesels weakest links... I know those value guides are wasted already... it's the 1st thing I look for... Bad value guides.. take that oil fill cap off when it's running and feel that air blowing out of that cap... you will see what I'm talking about

Oh wow, you do know your stuff. I know nothing! Lol 😂 And that’s a lot of miles!!!! Blowing air when removing the oil cap isn’t normal? I’ve tested several cars and they all do it 😂 it’s a vacuumed system and by removing the cap you’re disrupting that… I think lol Thank you for watching!
