2005 Mini Cooper R53 EWS3 removal bypass no crank test

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

2005 Mini Cooper S model R53 EWS3 no crank bypass test will only turn over the engine and will not start the engine. This is just a test to verify the start circuit is good and that the EWS is holding out the operation.

I sent the DME to RPM Motorsport in Canada to perform an EWS delete. I should have it back Monday and will let you know how it works. The 30 amp fuse will remain in place and the DME (ECU) should no longer require the verification of the EWS to start the vehicle which also means any cut key should work in the ignition

I have a 2009 with CAS issues. I did the same as you but I installed a push start button . Use the key on position and then push start button that is bypassing the CAS

I had to send out the DME and delete the EWS and now it works with any key. The CAS module looked like a PITA to get to so I paid $300 to send out my DME and the fuse needs to be installed in the EWS after the delete

Great "test job", thanks a lot ... is the key with transponder? because you said it's not original... maybe the prev owner didn't program the transponder or you need to buy and make / setup a transponder key with that EWS ?

The key is definitely not a BMW original key. I tried to take it to a programming shop and they could not even recognize the key. BMW wanted $300 for a replacement key but that did not guarantee my EWS worked. I decided to do an EWS delete Instead and that cost $325 and I will never need a factory key again. I used RPM motorsports and shipped the DME out and they shipped it back the next day. I will post a video soon.

You should just send in you DME (ECU) located in the engine compartment and do an EWS delete. It is $300 and you will never have to program a key again. The issue is the EWS you have needs to be programmed to the vehicle and the DME has to be programmed to recognize the EWS. The EWS is the easier alternative and the fuse will stay in the old EWS location.

@@jakemir thank you so much for that! Couple questions to confirm, were you able to reprogram with any key as long as the cut matches? Also, can you use any of the key fob features? So here’s my problem. My key is dead and battery cannot be replaced. I was only given one when I bought the car. We have narrowed the problem down to communication between DME,EWS and key. Mini wants 405 for the key and I worry it can just do the same thing again or maybe even have a bad DME/EWS. Thank you!

This is the best way I have found to resolve the key issues. The dealership is the best option to get the correct key cut and programmed to your vin but it is about $325 per key. The lock and unlock will still have to be programmed. The EWS delete requires the removal of the DME and shipped out and then reinstalled. With the EWS delete any laser cut key will work and any aftermarket key will work but still has to be programmed to lock and unlock. The EWS delete makes the car no longer locate the EWS to verify the key is factory and the delete will not require a reprogram when the battery dies in the car. It was a better option for me. Call a mini dealer and ask the cost of the programmed key. It ships from BMW

The beeping is your door is open

At 5:54 it starts beeping but only did it after I was working on the EWS. I thought it was strange that they made it beep only when the key is out and the doors are open, it should be beeping when the key is on and the doors are open
