I know it's been a year but when you tried to start the engine it did sound like no/low compression on a couple cylinders. I did read you suspected the exhaust valves being bent & that would definitely cause that. I just finished doing a head gasket on the passenger side of a 2007 Dodge Nitro, same engine. One of the lifter seats actually broke on the head, I suspect a seized lifter for that which is fairly common on these engines I guess. I did see a guy asking about maybe leaving the timing chain on while replacing a head gasket. No you can't replace a head gasket without removing the cam & secondary timing chain on that side. Also removing the timing cover is necessary to reset the tensioner upon reassembly. There is a video that shows how to reset the tensioner without removing the timing cover but I took off the cover to ensure the timing marks were all in the proper spots prior to reassembly. I haven't seen an update, I know it's a pain having to go back & fix something after you have it all together. It happens....hope you got it fixed! Have a good one!

If you had the battery disconnected for more than 30 minutes it "forgot how to run..." if you start it with the throttle held at about 50% it will start, it won't idle because it has to relearn how to. there is a procedure to correct this.

Thanks for this video but if im removing the heads on mine and not all the timing chains do I just pull off the cam sprockets to remove the heads or will the chain come off without removing the sprockets from the cams ?

You will have to release the chain tensioners otherwise you won’t be able to get the sprocket back on or times properly.

Hello, I have a question. I’ve seen your videos on the 2005 Jeep Liberty I kept getting a constant P0306 and P0442 at the same time. I changed all gaskets and seals and the timing chain I’ve changed plugs, injectors and coils. I keep getting the same codes at the same time after all the work was done Any ideas? Maybe wiring issue at coil and injector? HELP

Wow man, you did a great job videotaping 1-2 and 3 but didn't video the part doing the timing. My daughter called me and said "Dad, I followed all 3 videos and tore my jeep apart step by step but the guy didn't show us how to do the timing when he put it back together." Now im heading over there to try to time the poor girl's jeep. Oh yeah, you used the term 120-foot pounds when in fact it was supposed to be inch pounds. Poor girl tried her best to fix her own jeep and I am proud of her. She broke a bolt off in the front of the engine by trying to torque a bolt at 120-foot pounds because that's what you said instead of inch pounds. No big deal, dad will fix it. Lessons learned, be careful with instructional videos because some people follow your instructions step by step. Constructive criticism.
