THANK YOU...THANK YOU... THANK YOU...I was baffled why my top all of a sudden wouldn't open... it was the parcel shelf knob like yours....THANK YOU again dude!!!!!

i remember having a bmw convertible that needed a diag for not closing. Visually inspected the hinge and trunk area, there was a can of fix-a-flat just wedged in between the hinge. once it was removed, top was operating as designed.

Easy to bump the shelf lock in the wrong position when loading large items. GREAT!!!

Hi Maic on BMW Z3 cars it’s the first thing to check but I have seen on a few cars ether the micro switch is faulty or the paddle on the switch is bent or missing and one more thing the movable compartment panel has a moulded square tab that can be broken and it will not trigger the micro switch. But the most common problem with a non functional top is the hydraulic pump motor is submerged in water because of clogged drains the pump is on the driver side you have to remove the top assembly in order to replace it the top ECU Will not produce any fault codes what I do to confirm a bad pump is on the driver side behind the driver seat you can partially remove the trim and the pump master plug Is there so you can check the voltage when the top is opened or closed the polarity is switched when the top is open or closed I usually drill a bigger hole on both side when the top is remove to prevent any water damage later on.

Maic, AWESOME find so the tray u mentioned is in the trunk and should have a sensor tilling the module that every thing is good to open or close the roof or there is some thing else to let that module do its thing enjoyable as always brother thanks for sharing learn some thing new. cheeeeers

so what modle autel are you using from one tech to another, im working on a Z4 that the pump drowned but there are electrical issues also and our scanner doesnt have that ability

Where are you located? I want to take my Z4 to you lol. My soft top won’t go down either, I already made sure that the compartment is open too. So I tried to manually put it down but it gets stuck halfway and I don’t want to force it down (even after disengaging the hydraulics). I found out it only works to go up but not down. Even though the button to go down lights up?

It is NOT a “BMW issue” - it’s an ignorant owner issue. It’s sad that instead of looking over the car you wasted sooo much time fumbling around on your computer. Wow…

Your poor judgment thinks I wasted time! I am an analytic person, so I gather data I fix cars. I saw on the pids for the switches that one was not right and went straight to the problem and corrected. So what is your thinking of waste time? So I rather go blind and look for what? You should just watch and learn!!!

@@MaicSalazarDiagnostics I apologize - let me clarify. Your diagnosis was excellent and you solved the problem. My point is - the owner should have simply opened up his owner’s manual and read “Convertible Top Operation”; a quick visual inspection would show that the shelf was not level/lowered into the correct position (there is a switch in the back that the shelf clicks into). This prevents the top from getting damaged by a large object in the trunk. Your video was fine, but all of that computer time could have been avoided if the owner would have simply read the manual; a 2 minute visual inspection is all that was needed. Sorry to upset you.

Wow! What a looser you are!! You have such of small brain that is all you can do! Amazing how poor live you just have that you come up with a comment like this! Lol No it is not made, I don’t fake content! And the reason I shared this is to prove that. Simple thing like this can prevent a convertible to open. All so far had love it and find it helpful. Just one person not! You!! So you should think about that!!
