BMW Z4 Roof Motor Relocation

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is how we relocate the troublesome BMW Z4 Roof Motor into the boot/trunk.
This stops the Roof Motor getting wet, and provides easy access for any future service work.
We're commonly able to revive some Z4's corroded/seized Roof Motors, like in this video.
In certain instances if the Roof Motor cannot be revived then a new Genuine BMW Roof Motor is installed.

Thank you for your video. Trying to do it myself right now and having trouble finding the final cable tie to pull the motor out. It is stuck in the bottom holder, any suggestions?

Thanks for this video! I helped a buddy change and move his motor on an 07 Z4. The hardest part was getting the motor up and out. The zip tie didn’t want to let go! It’s tight in there, and I’m only 5’8”! Sore all over today, but top started working perfectly right away.

Brilliant video thanks … It’s not easy to get the motor out of the housing > I poked a long bar through from the boot to rip the lid off the housing… There is a great thread on the web, which has pictures and explanation… Do look at that as well.

Fab demonstration, I have this problem with my z4 2.2i 54 plate. It's difficult getting a garage to fix the problem. Shame I'm not near you, as I'm in hull otherwise I'd be paying you a visit to fix it. Great video.

Great to see some content on the Redish channel. Just wondering on your thoughts of Calvin's Diary (on You Tube) E46 M3 touring build, is it something you would do or have done before?

Great video. I followed your instructions. My motor worked but it was out of fluid. I filled it up. The top worked for several cycles then it quit. I noticed fluid dripping out if the right side. If the lift cylinder is leaking, do I have to remove the top to get to the lift cylinder?

Happy new year. So I’m planning on purchasing a Z4 with low mileage & the top isn’t working. The dealership said the motor has been replaced but it’s still not working. So what you think the problem could be?

Love your videos. But he needs to ditch that chain bracelet when working on customers cars. Interiors or exteriors. That's not only sharp it's extremely bulky. Even just walking around cars not even working on them, an MOT tester shouldn't wear that. Oh yh and it looks shite 😏. Glad you saved this customer some money. Hopefully the motor is still serviceable for many years despite it being waterlogged for a substantial period of time. Can't of done it much good. Also look at all the scratches on the panel above the boot aperture some animal has been in there before with a chain bracelet. 🙄
