I bought a 2010 mazda3 sport and was only given one physical key. No key fob whatsoever - after making sure my care had auto locks I bought a fob on amazon for $20 and followed the instructions in this video. It took me 3 attempts but it worked! The key fob works perfectly and I didnt need any software, or an existing key fob. It iterally just worked with one physical key!! So happy thank you so much

Brilliant! Worked first time. The battery had got so low that one day we opened the car but could not lock it again. Changed the battery but still did not work. Your re-programming advice worked perfectly. Thank You!

If you have only 1 key......take the key blade off as if you were replacing the battery. You will have 2 parts now. Insert the key blade part in the ignition. Follow the steps as outlined. Use the key fob part to press unlock twice at final stage. Turn key blade part to on once more to deactivate programming mode.

Found this video on a random page. I have 2 Mazda keys that have nearly stopped working. Mazda Scotland want $1000 for 2 keys. I'm away to change the batteries and do the 3 times thing hahaha. Hope it works.

You can use a flipkey key fob with a 2005-2009 mazda3? I would like to use one of those with that kind of car if I get one.

I was working on 2012 Mazda 3, I followed everything but keep saying “failed” using APP. Do you think it’s the transponder chip mismatched? Th FoB works smoothly I bought the key from Amazon. BTW, thanks for answering for all my questions lately. You’ve been a big help on my small journey

I have a Mazda 3 (2004) and the remote just stopped working (no flashing lights eigther). I changed the battery, resolded the contacts but still nothing. The remote is working, I know cuz it's been tested, and it has signal. What can be wrong with the car? It can be a fuse problem? Lock - unlock it's working only if I turn the key, and it's very annoying. I don't know what to do! Can you help out? Thanks!

I just bought a 2011 Mazda 3 hatchback 2.5, but the key that came with it is a standard key with Mazda logo. Would this have immobilized chip in it? I’m looking to get a key fob for it. Would the one you used in the video be the right one? Any help would be great.

Can anyone tell me how to do it on a mazda 2 from 2008? I have one key FOB and one regular key. The fob buttons doesnt work, even though i changed battery.

What industry are you in? I’m desperately trying to find someone in my area who has this so I can pay them to come program mine.

I have a 2011 Mazda 3 and I only have one key fob. The key works but the buttons do not. New battery and won’t work. I get the red light in the center of the fob when I try to lock and unlock but won’t work

I have a 2011 Mazda 6 that shut down whike driving. There is no power to the coil pack not fuel injection. We change three crank sensor as we thought that was the issue, but problem never solved. Currently the car is parked as no one seem to be able to figure out the problem. It was scanned but nothing came up. I was told the computer needs reprogramming as the lock symbol flashes and it should be ok. I did all that but nothing changed. Could the key lost the programming and this caused the issue?

@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE I got it from Japan. The issue just first started about 3 months ago while driving, the car just shut down and I restarted the car. About a month afterit happened again and I restarted the car. Now I am not so fortunate to have it restarted after saturday 19.12.2020

Hmmm could be a bad key.. wouldn't know what to tell you unless you check the frequency at autozone.. see if they can check the frequency on the panic and trunk button

Miguel Vasquez the fob yes .. the chip no!! You need a programmer.. i know the ford system you can program a third key if you have too but i dont know if mazda would work the same way.. i kno the use same chip thats why i say that.. but i highly doubt it!

@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE I took apart my old fob and put all the parts in a new fob case. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why it wouldn't start. I went through the old pieces and found the chip. I put it in the new fob case and bam, started right up. I thought it was a piece of broken plastic. I would have never figured that out.

So what’s the purpose of the chip? If I buy a new fob, get it cut, and program the remote, it would be able to unlock, lock, and start the car. What does the chip do and why is this step necessary?

THIS COMMENT IS ABOUT ADDING A KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE (EITHER A KEY FOB OR THE BUTTONS ON THE KEY), NOT ABOUT ADDING A KEY TO START THE CAR. o-o-o-o If you are having trouble programming the car for a keyless remote because the door locks will not cycle after you close and open the driver’s door 3 times: m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/pququrayoa_cdpc.html it is probably because this car never had the Keyless Entry System option. This means that you cannot add a keyless remote to this car. The Keyless Entry System is an optional feature. Look in the owner’s manual and note the asterisk “*” at the bottom of the page for Keyless Entry System. It says “Some models”. Not all cars have the Keyless Entry feature.
