2004 - 2007 Yamaha Rhino 660 carburetor cleaning with throttle cable removal/install.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is another video of a Yamaha Rhino 660 carburetor cleaning. Sadly something happened to some of my footage. But enough was available to put this together. This video includes a close up view of removing the throttle cable at the carburetor. I produced this video with CyberLink PowerDirector 18.

I have had my '07 since new. I live at 700' elevation and go to higher elevations every year or so and have to change the main jet to compensate. Stock is 145 I think but I run a 150. We ride at about 8000' to 10K and I run a 137.5. I have not drilled out the plug as you show. Is that something I need to do? I have never had any problems at any of these altitudes. A few yrs. ago, I put a turbo kit on it and the instructions never mentioned that jet, only the main. I never got it to run half way decent at any altitude. Even tried different types of carbs from a Weber to Holley. Ended up burning two pistons and just gave up and went back to stock. Happy now...lesson learned the expensive way.

got the brass plug filled with JBWeld and put back in. It looks like its going to work. At 19:25 where you have the carb turned upside down, you have the carb turned upside down. There are four items at the bottom. In the view at 19:25, the top is the heater. The center left is the brass plug. The center right is the jet. On the bottom is a threaded hole. I don't see you put anything back in it. Is it left open?

I’m having an issue where it looks like my throttle isn’t opening completely. The thing has ALWAYS run sluggish so I decided to check this The cable seems to be getting caught on part of the rotating thing. It deosnt open anywhere near the amount you had at 5:35

What happened I was going to go over the jetting and tell you it's jets are in it all that kind of stuff all you did was take it apart and put it back together which that part I had down finding out the Jets was actually what I was really neat have you put another video out tell us what Jets was in it to make sure the power that we're getting used to have the right jets in it and that might be the reasons why some of our bikes ain't right running right

If it’s not running right, be sure to start by changing out your fuel filter. Most any will work and I mean any! It’s located behind passenger seat. Use a flat head to gently nudge it out. Replace with a clear plastic type of any filter! Make sure it seals when you put it back in. I use c- clamps at both ends. Mine wouldn’t start with the regular pressure clips. Other wise filter won’t fill and machine will not start. If that doesn’t solve your problem, a reverse engineer carb cleaning will solve your problem. Clean. All the jets one by one replacing before cleaning the next. For your normal ride areas, No need to remove the diaphragm cover or mess with the needle assembly.

thanks for sharing you experience. I do appreciate it. During your video edits you cut out or did not video the replacement of the needle into the rubber diaphragm.

I was wondering the same thing, how does the spring and needle algin up?

To change needle settings. May want to work over a shop towel so you don’t lose parts. Carefully remove metal diaphragm cover and spring. Use pliers to gently tug at needle plug. The plug and spring will come out together(You put them back in the same way.) The stock needle then slide out. Note the order of any washers and the clip for the needle. It’s at this point you can use an upgraded needle for elevation(DynoJet$40) and position the clip according to instructions that come with new jet upgrade. DJ comes with about 20 brand new jets with small numbers you can try. The plugged system jet has to be drilled out to access the cool features as it is plugged and set to lean at the factory. Hope this helps.

You did not change the jetting for the pipe like you said. You also mentioned people mix up the pilot, and main jet but didn't show the difference to help anyone who did. Lastly you fiddled with the float to check float shut off point but did not explain that either. I only mention these specific things because that is what I am looking for not because I am a curmudgeon.

I had my head up my butt and drilled the plug right below the correct location. The solid flat brass. Can I buy the piece anywhere?

Please go purchase some JIS Japanese industrial standard Screwdrivers. You will never need an impact for a carburetor again
