2003 Vortec 5.3L Wiring Harness Rework Part 2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video will go over removal of the unused wires in the wiring harness that were depinned from the PCM connectors and cut from fuse block plug c1, c100, c152, c153. I also will show some changes I make to the harness routing. Finally new loom will be installed.

I'm following along, step by step, as I do my harness. One thing that I found super helpful is how you explain individual wires, especially the orange/tan highlighted items on your charts. They are not explained well on the website, but hearing you explain them helps immensely. Thanks again for putting this info out there at no charge. You are a saint.

Hey Brendan, awesome job! I followed you along and it worked out for the most part. I have a different plu for the neutral safety switch, one bigger grey plug, only 2 wires from the PCM are disconnected. I'm not sure what I should do. I think there is a lot of info for the PCM to control engine while going through the different gears. I guess I just leave it in and add the transmission eh?

There is a Pin out on the ECU for the neutral saftey switch. Leaving it unpinned or not connected, the ECU will assume the transmission is always in gear. (Can be dangerous if you leave it in gear and start it) and you can leave it unplugged from there. In order to get the Neutral safety switch to work properly, you need a wire that’s grounded when in park or neutral and open in gear. DO NOT just ground the ECU pin thinking you’ll trick it into thinking it’s in park/neutral. The ECU is programmed to idle higher in park, so if you’re in gear with it thinking you’re in park, the idle will be too high causing the car to try and push through the brakes when stopped and in gear.
