Is the DB7 a great bargain for budget V12 motoring? Huge thanks to Barrie House Coffee Roasters for sponsoring today's video www.barriehousestore.com

depends on the 456GT
It won't be depreciated for long if influencers continue speaking favorably about them. Prices fluctuate massively once general audiences are made aware of the deals to be had.

Man, the DB7 still looks classy to this day! And that V12 sounds heavenly.

Never heard anything that nice honestly. It's crazy good sounding!
i met one of the main engineers behind this V12. i've always held these cars in such high regard, the styling, the prestige and that engine is just immaculate
This car aged beautifully in my opinion
I love cars like this that don't have 700 BHP and you can shift through the gears while reving it out without doing stupid speeds
These things still look aristocratic and beautiful 20 years later, despite the depreciation. A manual V12 coupe may have come up a bit from a few years ago but probably still an incredible buy. Especially if you tune it!
Nice, happy sound coming from this V12. The shorter gears definitely add to that experience.
The Bond Group is the gift that keeps on giving! I don't know any other YT channel which has such a variety of cars I grew up near (not with, unfortunately!).
As an NA Miata owner I can't help but think of the DB7 convertible as the gentleman's miata.
@bernardboka4277
Жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly. And the Miata has earned every inch of the respect it holds today. Engineered with humility and respect for the souls of the 1960s British roadsters that inspired it, and suffused with an almost supernatural expression of Japanese attention to precision and correctness mechanically that make the Miata what we all know and love. It is the most British of the mid century British roadsters, and it isn’t even British nor mid century. To my Japanese brothers who were involved, you have beyond redeemed yourselves. One day I would love to buy you a beer

@@bernardboka4277 one of my favorite engineering touches on my 1999 NB Miata was how with the top down at 62mph/100kmph the wind noise would equalize and you could whisper to your passenger
The Aston Martin V-12 is so silky and sonorous with its equal length headers. It's amazing how other V-12's with unequal-length headers can sound unpleasant and gruff... like the E31 BMW 850ci/csi with the M70/M73 V-12.
This engine sounds just like an RB26 with no turbo and a resonated exhaust. Really really amazing sound.
@tommynobaka

I always wondered what a V12 RB would sound like. I no longer need to imagine. The Toyota V12 in the century doesn't sound nearly as good and it's disappointed because the 1JZ sounds amazing

@@nb8c_fd effspot here on yt has an equal length V12 century that sounds just as good if not better than this Aston... Wish I had V12 century and manual swap money 🤣 Another good one is the LS400 and ISF with equal length headers I 1J swapped a Cressida years ago and it sounded so good. Plenty of faster cars, but they didn't sound as pleasant.

You're rapidly turning me into a car guy, thanks for showcasing such an awesome vehicle.
Compared to later generation of Aston, this taller gear ratio is actually better to drive given its clutch and throttle setting. Very happy to see this!
I like that you mention how easy it is to just get in and drive. It is still pretty much an analogue type car, clutch, shifter, regular e-brake, so it is almost muscle memory for operating a lot of the controls. That's what I love about this era of car, it is among the last of the high priced GT/Supercars without a lot of electronic frippery. So many new cars have too much, in my opinion, reliance on electronic controls to get them right. Bring up this page on a screen to access ride control/engine maps, or press this button and turn that dial to access it.
I still think this and the original V12 Vanquish are the prettiest Astons!
Such a timeless car even with some parts shared with other vehicles. And, the color combination plus a manual make it perfect!
damn it puts all the power down no loss of traction straight linear power all the way through this thing is impressive
Sounds much better than I remembered. Always loved the DB7 Vantage but that sounds cool enough and elegant. Being a Volante probably helps to enjoy the engine.
Was at Aston Boston for a time and had the pleasure of driving one of these. Would take a V12 stick DB7 over a DBS Superleggera, or any other car really. What a amazing feeling car to drive.
Have a 2000 DB7 and have the same issue with the parking brake light - just need to be patient. It is a drop dead gorgeous car and sound
I just love that Aston kept the basic XJS chassis in production for the DB7 for almost another decade. They took the XJS where Jaguar should have taken it. I remember how instantly familiar it felt (as an XJS owner) when I fist sat in the DB7 for the unveil in Tucker Ga when it first came out.
It sounds wonderful and a V12 with a manual is just something magic!
I’ve always liked the early, straight six models. They seem like the most faithful modern recreations of classic ‘60s British sports cars.

im usually not a big fan of v12s but this sounds AMAZING!
Love the subtle pops and burbles from the exhaust. Such a classy car!
Just listen to the sound of this car what a beauty 😍
This video has only helped to reinforce the fact that the db7 is essentially just a Jaguar xj-s with a more expensive tuxedo on... And there is absolutely *nothing* wrong with that. I must complete the British gt car dynamic duo!
I have always loved the clean, elegant lines of the DB7 ever since it's debut.
I used to hate this design when I was a kid and now I'm just in love with it! Looks so smooth to drive 👌
Oooof! Those downshifts are lovely in that Aston! 🤌🔥 Beautiful car in all aspects.
I own a 2002 jag XKR, and there is so much similarity once you start looking. Both developed off the old Jag XJS platform, which say what you like about it, ran in xjs guise from 74 to 96 and then in x100 guise until 2005, so jag must have done something right (as well as having No Money At All)
Timeless machine. Such a beauty.
"...our customers have never sat in a Ford Mondeo..." 😂🤣😅😆😁 What an epic response! That v12 roar does sound nice tough!
never seen this kind of aston martin before. glad you got to review it
I got to play with a db7 manual for about a month before exporting it. Same vintage, same spec. What a blast to drive! Just a little snug for taller fellas. DB9 is superior in every way, but these db7s have that wonderful, analog, pre-corporate handmade feel that has long since vanished. Who cares about Mazda handles and switch gear? As long as they work. The early DB9 console controls were just awful. Db7 is more special than ever because so few are seen on the roads today. And I don't think the db11 is especially wonderful.
Beautiful car and amazing review as always!
I have to say this is one of the best of cars you have shown here the Aston Martin DB7 V12,and I have to say your getting the best of both worlds with this car luxury, and sports, and this car has quick response when wanting with fast ratio engine, and all,6speed transmission thank you for this great video
Great video as always! Keep inspiring people!!
Aston Martin had awesome interiors in those years. I love DB7 coupe and later DB9. Above all, just listen to that engine, perfect note 😍
It's sounds incredible, absolutely classy.
great sounding car, very James bond like, love watching all your new videos keep it up!!
Another awesome video! A v12 manual? Wow!!!
Anyone else remember the TopGear episode when Jeremy Clarkson drove one of these cars from 0-140mph in 4th gear only?
@travisolson9190
Жыл бұрын
That was a common test by British motorists since the early 1900s, customers didn’t like changing gear back then so there were tests of how little you needed to change gear in daily driving. Even the E-Type v12 was tested to pull away cleanly in 4th gear from a stop. The Pagani in 6th can pull away in gear from idle speed, and so can the McLaren F1

Db7 are lovely people need to give it more respect! I had one in the pasted amazing cars
You mad lad. Getting your hands on an AM? Amazing
This sounds Amazing 😅
Interesting note about the speedometer. I assume that is a hangover from the UK rhd version. 30, 50, 70mph are common speed limits here, though 50 is rarer. 30 is basic urban speed limit and 70 is the usual motorway and dual carriageway limit.
Oh my gawd it sounds so amazing. Kind of reminds me of Smokey Nagata's V12 Supra.
Que ronco maravilhoso!!! Esse Aston Martin é lindo, um dos meus favoritos

Very nice review, thank you. I have a 2001 DB7 V12 Vantage (a coupe), also with a stick shift. Paint is Chiltern Green, interior is tan like yours but also with green leather elements as well. In Europe the V12 coupes in good condition are on the market for between high 40ies and around 60K USD. Not sure if and when prices will ever go up significantly. Cheers, Sm
I have one of these and find it nicer to own than a DB9 I had a few years ago. The only thing I really miss from the more modern car is cruise control and a nicer gearbox, plus a few extra MPGs...
Thanks!

The power delivery looks so lovely linear and usable. Shame there are no engines around like this anymore.

Oh wow, that is one sexy beast mate! And personally I also like the Jag influence The Ford plastics not so much!). Beautiful car! plus, a 12-cylinder car specc'ed with a manual stick. Wow!
More like in the $30k range with this kind of mileage, which is excellent value.
My childhood dream car and now the Lexus lc500 nori green takes its place
Best sounding Aston Martin they have ever made fir me! I’ve had 3 Aston but this db7 sounds the best for me lol
One of my favorite cars of all time. Would happily go into crippling debt for the right one.
I’ve got two 6 speed manual 12 cylinder Aston Martins, a convertible and coupe that I paid less for together than a new nicely speced Toyota. Sitting in climate control and lovingly driven when I’m off work…. Appreciating every day. They scoffed at the Ferrari Dino 206 back in the day too, but like these cars, their beautiful souls and spirits , magic sounds their motors make… they loom far above the sum of their parts.

One other thing I also notice is the tach is normal too i.e it moves clockwise like a normal car, instead of anitclockwise like later Astons.
dilute your coffee with milk? beautiful car. I love the DB7 (especially in coupé form) and Gran Turismo 1 was a staple of my childhood and partially responsible for my automotive addiction. I don't think much out there beats a nice juicy V12 with a MANUAL. Good god. And love the simplicity and parts bin'ness. I really don't mind sharing parts with cheap cars.
