This video will show you how to clean the MAF and Throttle Body on a 2002 Nissan Maxima.
This is a very simple process but it could give your car more power when it's missing it.
This personally didn't fix my issue as it seems to be a clutch / transmission problem but at least I'm happy to make a new tutorial for my viewers.

    You must be an idiot if you think this video is good. Anytime you wanna do work on your own vehicle and you aren't familiar with mechanical procedures at least do your homework and don't just do exactly what the first video you saw on KZread tells you to do. I mean come on, you don't need to be a mechanic to realize how stupid this guy is and how many things he did wrong.

    Great video. Thanks for taking the time and effort needed to record yourself while doing the repair. A few steps were unnecessary (like in taking off the MAF), but you showed me the spray I needed and how to clean my 2003 nissan maxima. You are a blessing. Sounds like the clutch to me though.

    Most us here are not experts, that's why most of us are here. A few things: Zoom that camera out so we can see the whole engine bay to see what you're working on and as far as the butterfly goes you did the right thing by disconnecting the battery. If you disconnect the battery you can move the butterfly with no issue but if you do it while the car has power you now have to do the relearning procedure. I did my 08 max without any issues. Gonna do it today.

    So, so many mistakes!!!! First, clean your engine department, before you do anything, second: clean your battery connection, put some grease on them, third: you could get your fingers cut off, if your battery was connected, when your stick them inside a throttle body, and did you do throttle body re-learning process??? I did not see that......, and by the way, you can clean MAF sensor, just by taking those 2 screws out and lift it out!!!!!

    Did you know you can clean the MAF sensor and throttle body with just plain rubbing alcohol? You will have to take a q-tip with alcohol on it(just a couple of drops), and real gently clean the wire inside the MAF sensor. AS for the throttle body, you can use a rag with rubbing alcohol or a tooth brush and wipe clean. Awesome video. Thanks a lot.

    The person who posted this, must update the video. The main mistake on this video is moving the butterfly of the throttle body. VQ35DE engine of 2002 maxima have electronic throttle body, ecu must be reset thru dealership by using Consult II or do it yourself by performing throttle relearn procedure. If you want to put your maxima into limp mode follow this misinformation.

    @macee1491

    Yes, 5th Gen maxima with VQ35DE engine have electronic throttle body, if you move the butterfly it will trigger an error code. To erase the code, you need to reset the ecu by performing the throttle relearn procedure or using the Consult II of Nissan Dealership. Worst ended up replacing the throttle body assembly. For VQ30DE, the throttle body is mechanical, so you can move it.

    link375 that was my first guess the clutch or the hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic clutch assuming it had a hydraulic clutch. Never heard of a transmission going into Gimp mode especially a manual tranny. Limp mode is a condition in the ECM that takes over for the engine management so that the car doesn’t just die as you’re driving down the road and operates the vehicle in pre-specified parameters so that the engine will keep running (but it will burn gas, build up deposits, and fall emissions until the vehicle has been repaired properly. I would’ve kept the jeep and with in his many miles on that nissan there just garbage at that Mileage

    I cleaned the sensor on my 2000 Maxima about three years ago, just after I bought it. This is a low mileage car that had about 50K miles at that time. It now has about 65K miles, and I'm having to clean the sensor again. Is this normal, that is, once they go bad, cleaning is only a short term fix? Or is something else causing this, maybe poor quality air filters? I'm thinking about replacing the sensor at this point, but it's about $110, don't want to do this if it's not the real problem. Anyone else have any experience with this?

    dude. if a manual tranny car accelerates but won't move forward or backward the first thing which should come to anybody's mind would be a dead clutch. How come that didn't occur to you? also if your car has an electronic throttle moving the throttle plate manually by hand is a big no no for the throttle motor.

Yeah that sounds like a lot but the car is 18 years old things wear out but it will still spin tires through 2nd gear and will easily get into triple digit speeds.
