By engine braking I meant adjustable engine breaking, in newer motorcycles the ecu has a way to regulate EB according to the riders preference 😀👍
I got one from the original owner for my 63rd birthday. I'll be 76 in 4 months and I still have and love this bike, Titanium & Black 2003 954RR with a Sargent seat and a carbon fiber slip on.

One of the best bikes of all time 20 years later and still looks and handles better then these new ones
I have a 954 02 in blue and a Tuono 1000R -08. Best of both worlds.
I bought mine last year and I'm very very happy with the bike. I love this model since the first day and now I can enjoy mine! Powerful, light, very nice breaks and very fun to drive!✊🏼👊🏼💥
Great video!. I love that there's not so much electronics to the bike... thats qhat makes it so fun to ride! Just you, the bike, and the road!
I have had my 954 going on 3 years, I love it, plenty of power, handles great, I am currently converting it to a stunt setup, dirt bike bars improve the comfort 10 fold with a more upright seating position, some parts are getting harder to find, but it is worth it, note to anyone who buys one, be sure to torque in spark plugs, dont "feel it out" or you will kick yourself in the ass when a sparkplug comes loose, blows out and rips out threads with it

Excellent review! All points spot on!
I couldn’t fit my legs on one. It was my first choice, but I bought a Hayabusa in 2004 instead, then a 2008, and now I’m back in the riding seat with a 2023 ZX14r, which is ridiculously fast. I’d like to say the 954 is one of the best bikes made….period. The folks I rode with back in the day still have them.

It's just a pity that the SC50 doesn't have the quickshifter. You can retrofit one, but that's not good for the gearbox.

Man, you are re-selling me on my 954rr. I got mine a couple years ago, and refurb'd it. Not back to stock or nearly as nice as yours, though. But brought it back to life. I have since bought an 05 yzf-r1, and done the same. The 954rr is SO much of a better all-around bike. It's quite comfortable if you have to go through town or commute. I spent a lot of time and energy trying to come up with a way to make my R1 the same with things like adjustable angle clip ons/seat mods etc, and I gave up. The bike is what it is, and I am just not going to kill myself to get to work anymore lol, it's just going to be a twisties bike only. My 954rr right before I got my r1 developed a nasty gear slip in 2nd/4th. I tried just replacing the forks/drum, no go. Well as of today I have bought myself an engine to swap. I'm going to fix up my old engine once it's out of the bike and keep on the side. When the bike is totally apart, I will go through it with a fine tooth comb again, and try to make it as fresh as you have done yours. Also PS I had been considering selling all 3 of my bikes and getting something modern, maybe a 2015 ducati, maybe a 2023 zx10r, maybe a cbr 1k, who knows. But I have absolutely no interest in the electronics package. Do I need more power? Tough to say lol. Amazing work, thanks man.

A wonderful review. Makes me fall in love with my ZX9 all over again. Agreed that a great rider will give up nothing on this generation of super bike to a novice on a new one. Fantastic FireBlade for Tadao's Swansong lightest FireBlade ever.
