    Used this video of yours on a North Face trim level Avalanche from '03. Worked like a charm to cut exactly where I needed to, only fun on my end is the pump didnt come with new o-rings and clips for the lines to reattach, thankfully I keep a set of metric and SAE o-rings on hand, otherwise, worked insanely well, all I had was a dremel myself, so took a bit but lord, my buddy says the Avalanche hasnt run or shown the power it does now since he bought it 130k miles, and 7 years ago. Much appreciated you posted this and made those spot welds the reference for the back end!

    Get out of the Industry. There's a reason there isn't a door cut in the floor. If you've ever worked on a car with a trap door from the factory, you'll notice its bolted down and has a seal. This video is pure backwoods hackery.

    @@rickyrobbie you say there's a reason there's not a floor cutout , then give no explanation why . The cutout isn't a hack job , but he probably could have fabricated it back on better . You're just mad cuz you like screwing people over on 30 minute 600 dollar Labor charges .

  • @rickyrobbie

    @rickyrobbie

    9 ай бұрын

    @levicallis459 Not mad about anything. Cutting the floor up is LITERALLy A HACK JOB. It's not how it's supposed to be removed, and there's plenty of good reason why its not removed like that such as the possibility of gas fumes leaking into the cabin of the vehicle. Most fuel tanks come out rather easily. A good technician shouldn't struggle with removing a fuel tank, I can typically get them out in under 20 mins. Unfortunately, people like you can't accept that working on the modern automobile is beyond their skill level, so if anybody is mad here, it's you. 600 dollar labor on a fuel tank removal? You got screwed. The fuel pump is typically the most expensive part of the job, not the labor. You sound like a backyard hack who half asses everything, mad at the fellow working man for being paid based on their knowledge, skill, and tools. I'm a better technician than you could ever dream of being, chump.

    @@rickyrobbie there won't be fumes if you got the skills to fabricate it properly back on . And I'm not a mechanic , and I'll still run circles around you with basic tools . • @rickyrobbie

    @rickyrobbie

    9 ай бұрын

    @levicallis459 you make an awful lot of assumptions. I've done this job on the ground. Still done in under an hour without cutting the floor board up. 🙃 How many people do you think are really going to make a door for the hole they just made in their floor, since they're too lazy to remove the tank the correct way? I wonder how many of these clowns ended up cutting a fuel line and fixed it with a compression fitting that will most likely leak? 🤔 latest tools? When did snap on come out with the fuel tank removal tool? I've got lots of tools, but they're not much different than what anyone else has, except for the quality of them. Quit being so butthurt my guy, if you were so good, then why are you not working as an automotive tech? Probably because you're a parts changer, a crappy one at that. The diagnostic process is where automotive technicians make their money, which would require more brain cells than you obviously have. 🙄

    I wish mine looked like that when I dropped the tank on my 2005 Avalanche, my fuel pump didn't die, the top rusted out on it and was leaking, and I spent a lot of time getting the rusted lines off the pump. And that ring that was holding the pump in was also a rusted mess so I replaced that as well. Since the pump didn't die, I was able to run the truck until it was pretty much empty. I live in the north where there is a lot of salt / deicer that wreaks havoc on vehicles. After I installed the new pump, I sprayed Amsoil Metal protector on the metal parts to slow down / avoid the rusting issue again.

    This video and the comment section highlights why some people shouldn't be allowed to repair anything. As an automotive tech with many year in the industry, I have found plenty of "shortcuts" and have taken advantage of them. That being said, if your shortcut involves butchering new part or cutting the vehicles floor, then its not a shortcut but a hackjob. The time it took this guy to cut a hole in the floor, an experienced tech would have had the tank out, and back in.

    I did this to my 2012 Cadillac SRX. Of course it's a different vehicle so I had to cut a different spot, two in fact as the Cadi has a pump and sending unit separate. You would not believe the amount of work you otherwise have to do to drop the fuel tank, including taking the entire exhaust off the car. The government loves to mandate things to car manufacturers, they should mandate that all cars have access doors under seat to fuel pump.

    It's mostly likely your fuel pump going bad, or there could be air leak.

    Hey everyone, I'd be real careful about hammering a screwdriver on that metal. You sure don't want to spark anything with all that residual gas there and a full tank... At least get the ring loose before you take the lines loose and get gas all over the place

    I cut my floor once being lazy and every time it rained hard or I went into a huge puddle of water my floor got wet and began to smell like stank feet. I ended up selling the car because I could not get the foot smell out. I did a suburban. Drove it up on two stands and lifted the back and put it up on jack stands and then dropped the tank and used a sypen to suck out the gas and put in a new pump. Easy to put back tank was plastic and empty and two bolts later it was over with and didn't have to cut my floor up. Yeahhhh

    It only takes an hour to drop the tank and take out the old pump and put the new one in. Lol and that's putting a tank back in with that time. The way you did it I just called lazy. You might have shaved 10, 15 minutes off the time.

    I agree. I could see if you were stuck in the desert or in some sort of desperate situation as a LAST resort, but this isn't a mechanic. Just a hack job. Teenager stuff. There are so many reasons this is a bad idea.
