The CRX was modded out the wazoo, WAY too unfair as it weighs nothing and the engine was built to the max. Whereas the s2k engine was practically stock

@@roboticvenom1935 the SS Works CRX is nowhere near maxed out, it still uses a metal roof and the engine is making half what road racing engines were making then.

Watching the revs...most staying above 5k even when they are off the throttle...I've had cars that sounded like they were about to blow at 6k.
I remember my mate had one of those CRX's back in High School. Obviously not the same tune spec, however was an 89 SiR, that his grandfather could no longer drive. Lucky bugger got it as his second car. Man we had some great cruising times in that car, as well as putting a few smiles on other 'boy racers' faces as you pulled away from them

@@Big1_ yeah, because those 240hp come from a Supercharged 7.2 V8 right? Or maybe because a 1.3 liter engine is small enough to keep the car weight under 800kg and still pulls 240hp, who knows...

It's a B16B that's been stroked to 2 litres not the original 1.3 single cam.

Yamaji..... he died some years ago, used to race in gt300 whit the RE amemiya, he was famous for saving another driver his life in a race, he stop his car and run to save his life, true man

SS Works ran 205 fronts and 195 rears, is this common for FWD track cars like this? Would fatter fronts aid against understeer?

they do, but also running narrower rears helps the car rotate without having to put really stiff suspension back there

It's also interesting to see how i made the mistake of assuming the engine was the main part responsible for its speed when its more the extreme weight savings most people attribute this to (combined with an incredible engine, handling, aero etc). Glad your comment reminded me of this car, now i just need to find some more recent information on it. Would love to see it giving more modern cars a beating!

Psyox Sounds Studio probably 4th gear had chipped some of its teeth (causing it to jump to neutral)

The fuck? No, it was way too modified and built. It weighed nothing and had a whopping 240 horsepower which is a shit ton, the s2000 was the most impressive here since the engine was mostly stock. The CRX had WAY too much power, it was completely unfair it didn't have shit to do with gear ratios lmao

i watch this video CONSTATLY over the years and it just now dawned on me... why is there not a rx8 in here.... they rev to 9k stock. and with some slight port work could rev to 10k. i know they are heavy but that would have been a good car / addition to have in this battle...

@@roboticvenom1935 implying that zero skill was involved? There's more to a car than power to weight ratio. Suspension, engine tuning, gear ratios, not to mention all that is useless if the driver himself cant control such a light car. Sure, the CRX was well suited to the track, but you're discrediting the drivers and builders by implying it was solely up to the amount of horsepower they were able to put in and the amount of weight they could take out.
Oh 6th place is a really powerful NSX, I wonder who the driv... OF COURSE ITS TSUCHIYA-SAN
