Just did my 2002 and had no need for the universal coupler on socket.. straight extension works just fine but the length you need is the 3" extension + about a 2" deep socket.. my other extension was about 1" to long. Also was not necessary to remove battery tray.. just the battery and intake plastic. Left sufficient room to get everything done.
