2001 F350 7.3 Powerstroke (Chipotle Burrito Delete Mod) Intercooler pipe foil wrap insulation remove

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Finally got a chance to finish editing this project that took a couple days to film due to my busy schedule. Finally its done and i love this mod!! Turbo sounds pretty much the same, but without a wrap it might be a little louder. I love how it looks, gives me 7.3 engine bay a look that nobody has i dont think.

Saw your video right as I was wrapping up the editing for my next one. Looks like yours turned out petty nice. The wrapped looks definitely started growing on me by the end. I myself might even wrap the cold side to keep the symmetry. Couldn't hurt having a little insulation on it too. Now you got me questioning whether or not I want to color mine or wrap it haha. That was a nice call on the eraser wheel by the way! I appreciate the shout out and am glad I could give some helpful advice.

Nice work. That looks much better than the foil. The intercooler pipes don't really get that hot. From what I was told....the foil was there mainly to keep the turbo whine down. I did mine last year...what mess! Mine did not come off as clean as yours. Most of the insulation was still stuck to the pipe when I removed the foil so the wire wheel flung it everywhere. I actually like the turbo whine so I just had mine powdercoated. Good video...thanks for posting. ~jw

If you do this, BE CAREFUL: that foil is SHARP. As far as the wrap goes, the temperature difference is minimal. The main reason was to dampen noise. Fun fact: the 7.3 was discontinued mainly due to its inability to pass California’s noise emission ordinance. Emissions played a part, but weren’t the main reason.

Nick I have two points to make looking in your engine compartment. One your new air filter is a downgrade from a cold air intake. See life on wheels. 2, i've done the same rap but I applied some heat transfer knowledge. After wrapping with the insulation I painted the wrap with black high temp silicon. This simple mod should allow the heat to transfer out of the duct more efficiently before it reaches the intercooler. NextI wrapped the intercooler exit tucked in the same fashion but painted it silver to reflect heat. My Theory is to keep the air as cool as possible prior to entering the engine. Cooler air is more dense containing more oxygen. It seems to have helped my truck quite a bit. I also run of AFE intake spider again to keep the intake air temperature down. Just sharing my experience, love your videos.

Hot air isn’t good for any internal combustion engine. You want colder air as it is more dense allowing more oxygen into the combustion chamber. The more cold Dense air and fuel we can pack in (keeping the correct afr), the more efficient, powerful combustion event. Hope that helps.
