Thanks for posting. Haven't seen since I was a very little girl. All I remembered was the lion eating foot off part and the greatest invention part. So glad to see again.

The opening theme music is from "Switched-On Bach," which was the first album rendering Bach on an electronic instrument, the Moog (pronounced Moag) synthesizer. The performer was Walter Carlos, who later had a sex-change operation and became Wendy Carlos. The sound track is combined from the first 2 (of 5) 2000-year-old man albums made by Reiner & Brooks, with some material rearranged for continuity.

This was in a video rental place when I was little. I LOVED it, but, it's so short, I only rented it once. Wanted to see it again, but, better value for monies to rent full length movies, lol. So, thank you for sharing this.

It is a stand up improv routine from Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner. It is not supposed to be historically accurate. If you don't like it, you don't have to watch.

Wonder what this man would think of the world today? Reporter: "Uh, Sir; what is your opinion on the creation of the Internet? Did you happen to meet Mr. Bill Gates, the man who first came up with the idea?" 2,000 Year Old Man: "Well, ya know...when I first heard about it; I thought this 'internet' was somethin' else...like something you would use for fishin'."

A half-hour animated television special, The 2000 Year Old Man, premiered January 11, 1975,[2] incorporating some of the original recordings.[2] This special has since been released on VHS videocassette and DVD. The musical introduction was Bach's Sinfonia to Cantata #29 performed on a Moog synthesizer by Mort Garson.[citation needed]

@elgincheese The music is done by Wendy Carlos (or possibly Walter at the time... don't ask) She was one of the first people to use and develop electronic synthesisers, and created several records to demonstrate their vast abilities by doing interpretations of classical music, mostly Bach. Look up "Switched-On Bach"

This is so great! And for anyone interested in the music - check out "Switched-On Bach" which is a 70's album playing Bach on the (then new) Moog!
