In today's video, the Peg Leg Sierra gets turned into a Peel Out Power Ranger with the help of the cheapest limited slip I could find that still looked legit.

    Proving how many of your videos I have seen so far, I don't even know if you still have the truck 4 years later. I guess I could just not comment on it since it's still so "early in the book " But I'm finally in a position where I'll be able to do the things I've always wanted to do with my truck. It's a 2002 Silverado I built to order while still stationed in Japan because Navy Federal just needed 3k down payment on the 2002 Ws6 I had already speced out. $300.00 was the down payment on what I ended up building to order. It atleast performed the most basic limits I wanted. I atleast wanted a manually shifted, rear wheel drive V-8. With as long as I've been waiting I want to order this as soon as possible and don't have the time to see if you still have it. Edit to add the actual question I wanted to ask. Has this product held up for you? If you could do it all over again would you have went with a different company?

    I got a cheap ebay one. This is real basic, but when you get the new diff in they usually come with some yellow like transfer grease or whatever it's actually called. You smear that on a few teeth and spin it around and check where the teeth are meshing. IIRC, you want it pretty much centered.

  • @SniderTron3000

    5 жыл бұрын

    Double check this for sure, but I think all 1999 and later half ton trucks have the 8.6 with the 30 spline. You can check the RPO codes in your glovebox to find out what rear gear you have and that'll let you know what posi to get because sometimes they have to be a different offset of the thickness of the pinion on higher or lower gear ratios.

  • @AppSkii

    @AppSkii

    03-06 comes only in drum brakes i have no clue why. The first step on these is gear ratio, change to 4:10 ($200) if your on 31-35" tires and it'll automatically have a better acceleration and torque. next, get a post unit (eBay $300). My tahoe wouldn't burn without getting a tune because some of these 03-06 won't let you override the "torque management" in the computer. Which as you probably have experience that it wouldn't let you go over 1800ish rpm when on the brake what so ever.

    djzomb1 lol I'm gonna get roasted, but its just the $285 "gm 8.6 eaton style" one you can find on eBay. As long as you do like 10 figure 8's in a parking lot to brake it in, it does fine. And, I just put the stock shims back in place and rolled things around to make sure nothing was tol fucked up lol I figured for $285, if it does blow up in a year, I'm not out that much. I wanted to give it a try.

    Awesome video man!! Can you please help me out on this question? So I have a 2000 2wd Silverado with 3:73 gears and with an open diff and I want to upgrade the diff to an lsd like yours. I asked around in my city if they can do this and they all say they will only do it if I change out the whole rear end with one that already has the lsd or a locking diff. I don’t understand why tho?? Is it not possible to change only the diff, since I don’t care about changing my gear ratio?

  • @SniderTron3000

    I have no idea why they would say that. Swapping from an open diff to a limited slip is super common
