2000 Blazer ZR2 Winter Truck Build Part 9: Ultra Rare Half Bose/Half Delco Stereo Option?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Part 9 starts off innocently enough. I remove more mouse nests, another dead mouse, more urine-soaked insulation... you know, the usual. Then I discover that my rear speakers appear to be set up from the factory with one Bose speaker and one Delco speaker. I never really resolve it, but do at least come up with a solution. Oh, and I reach an important milestone by finishing the heater box restoration.

Heck, you could’ve just cut a little slice and slip the panel out, then when you put it back together, just glue or epoxy it, sand and charcoal/black spray paint to touch it up. There’s always a plan B lol 😉

You need to invest in a Steam Machine (Canister Steamer). For the ~$70-100 it costs, it'll pay for itself really fast. Cleans, disinfects (add a little vinegar to the water), and deodorizes faster and more efficiently than everything you are now doing, and something you can use, not only in the shop, but at home also. Check them out.

Don't forget, it's still, essentially, just a Blazer/S10. Don't overthink the small stuff. Go to (or call) the local junk/salvage yard and just pull the 6x9 speaker adapters from any 2dr blazer or s10 (or Jimmy, Bravada, etc), and just add resistors to match OEM speaker resistance.

I cut up a 95 4 door blazer and found mouse house in the pillars. I live in eagle center north of you. YES we get the worst rust. Nice buy tho. Thinking I have to do the same to my 98 regular blazer.

A KDSC shirt and a William Elliott Whitmore shirt in one video? Nice. Can you dremel the one bracket to house a 6x9?

It's M-D Building Products item #2006. I got it at my local hardware store. And some double-sided carpet tape, but to be honest, it's not holding the foam very well. Maybe hot glue or spray adhesive would work better.

I've never even tried to open mine. I'm worried it will open and not close, then I'll have another thing to fix.

@@PhillipsHomeRepair Speaking of things that it takes a while to muster up the courage to try... Mine doesn't have a sunroof, which I'm thankful for because I know a few Blazer owners and ex-owners, and they all leak or leaked. Mine was engaging the parking brake. It took me a couple months of hovering my foot over the pedal, getting ready to push it down, then taking my foot away, because both of my previous Blazers hadn't been used for a long time before I got them, so I wasn't about to tempt fate by pushing the pedal and have it refuse to release. I live in CT, I bought the truck from someone up in MA, but it had only been there for two years. Previous to that, it was a southern CA truck, and since the frame and everything underneath was 100% rust free, I finally decided to just go for it. I set it, put the truck into Drive, removed my foot from the service brake, gave it a little bit of throttle up, and it actually held! But even more importantly, it released; all the way, and without me having to put my left foot under the pedal, trying to coax the pedal into coming the rest of the way up. It actually worked exactly as designed! Ok... On to the next video!
