This new 200 Stab Wounds album is amazing. Piles of Festering Decomposition was a great EP, the debut full length Slave to the Scalpel was even better, but this new album I feel is their best work yet and one of the best death metal albums of 2024. There's lots of hardcore influence to be found on this album and the great but not too clean production really makes the hard hitting riffs and pounding drums stand out even more.

Necrotic Nick- Same here. This band has been steadily getting better with each release and I think tis could be their best offering yet. There's just more to this album overall but everything that I already dug about them is still intact.

I saw 200 Stab Wounds with Dying Fetus this past May! And speaking of these two bands, 200 Stab Wounds is touring this fall with Nails [who are releasing a new album at the end of August] and Dying Fetus will be touring this fall with The Black Dahlia Murder, which the latter has their comeback album set for release September 27th, entitled Servitude.

This album is so good! 200 Stab Wounds definitely are winning the death metal race of 2024 with this album. The only other band that will give it competition for me is Fulci with their new album. Both 200 and Fulci are another level above everyone in terms of quality and songwriting!

Necrotic Nick- I had a good feeling about this one but honestly my expectations were surpassed on this one. They found away to change and not lose an ounce of their identity. Yeah, I'm stoked for that new Fulci album after that killer single. It's a good time to be a death metal fan right now.

Vinyl came in today, and I’ve spun the album 5-6 times. This band is special!

Love the production on this new record, it’s refreshing to hear new great death metal these days which also sounds old school at the same time. Gotta ask you nick what do you think about decapitateds winds of creation album? It blows my mind

Necrotic Nick- Yeah, this thing has a great balance of grit and polish and does skimp one bit on the heaviness. I love Decapitated in general but those first 4 in general are god tier in my book.

One thing that needs to be said to all the metal gatekeepers saving us all from the core...bands like 200 Stab Wounds are tomorrow's death metal torch bearers. The more they play and tour with the old guard the more they will evolve into more tried and true styles yet the younger audience will have their support as well.

I saw 200 Stab Wounds support Cattle Decapitation and I did the stank face, many times.

I'm generally more of a thrash guy than a death guy, but when death metal hits, it REALLY hits. And this one REALLY REALLY hits - maybe because it's got more thrash in there, but regardless, it's still death metal to me. Right up there in my album of the year list. Saw them at Decibel Fest back in April and they were band of the festival - just outstanding. PS: "RIFF BUFFET" 🤣🤣🤣

Necrotic Nick- Same. It's got a great balance of grit and just enough polish to really let everything breathe in the mix and sound crushing. This is pretty much what you get live with these guys too. I'm not familiar with Lodestar but I may have to look into that one. Sounds interesting.

Listened to the digital at the gym yesterday and my physical copy just arrived 5 mins ago. They kicked ass with Cattle Decapitation earlier this year. This album slays just like the last. Definitely some changes here n there, keeping things fresh but still heavy as fuck. Great review guys, was looking forward to your take on it. Knew you’d love it and give it a high score. Can’t wait for the Meshuggah ranking. I have most of their albums. I’m interested to see where they place with my own tier list 🤘

Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, I caught them back in April at the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest and they had one of the best sets of the entire fest. This new one rips from start to finish and I like that they brought in some different influences but still kept the core of their sound intact. Yeah, I believe we're gonna film the Meshuggah ranking on the 13th tentatively so it should be out some time after that.

I just finished listening to this. This is brutal, vicious and an absolute banger of a release. So much diversity on this one on most of the songs. Love the title track and the track Defiled Gestation. Funny you guys mentioned thrash metal because that's the first thing I thought of. I saw them live last year with Frozen Soul. Killer band!

Necrotic Nick- This album is as disgusting as it is catchy and honestly I think the songs stand out a bit more than they do on Slave to the Scalpel here. Defiled Gestation might be my favorite track on the album honestly. I love the long instrumental build up and that balance of aggressive thrash and brutal as hell death metal on that one is pretty much perfect. I've seen these dudes a ton of times and every time they play it's a killer show. Gonna see them again at FTA this year as well.

DM album of the year so far for me, killer release. Great review!

This album pleasantly surprised me. I thought it was going to be more brutal. First time hearing them. There is a lot of melody in here and some nice soloing. You guys hit the nail on the head with the thrash. Its all over this album. Think that's the biggest reason i like it. Perfect length too.

Necrotic Nick- With as many riff changes and tempo shifts I still feel like you're getting a full album here and there's nothing on here I would call filler at all. If there were tracks that dragged or just didn't measure up to the vicious standard set early on in the album it would feel too short. They nailed it though.

Damn this is a friggin great 29 minutes. Not surprised based on how great the first album is, but still…. Can’t ask for anything more - they bring the riffs and heaviness with just the right amount of dynamics and the album leaves you wanting more. Definitely see this being on a lot of year end lists.

Necrotic Nick- They packed a ton of killer riffs in that 29 mins too. Yeah, I've everything they've released so far but this one hits a bit differently with all those thrashier sections. It still packs that same vicious punch I've come to expect but this one just has more to it.

I wasnt sure to order this. I am more into tech death than groove death metal but i like cannibal corpse, so i give this a chance and I ordered it today on vinyl.

Update: record is finally here and I absolutely dont regret. For me at least a 4 Out of 5...Vinyl is also sounding good and it has fair price too. And the Cover looks awesome gory on Vinyl. 🤘

My copy arrived today, I'm gonna rip it to my ipod and run thru the fucking wall at the Gym lol...Seriously, this is a badass album and possibly my favourite DM release of the year so far!

I feel like they really grew and refined the best parts of their sound on this album. No sophomore slump for these guys! Sepulthrower had me laughing, I’d jam that band for sure.

Necrotic Nick- In terms of bands slowly evolving this is the pace I like. Introduce some new elements but don't abandon that core sound. Yeah, I don't know if the separation of the tracks was really needed there but it kinda does have two halves to it so I guess it makes sense.

@@thrallsofmetal I just think the songs are structured weird. In the 29 min run time I bet there’s maybe 12-15 mins total with vocals. Feels like a never ending jam session. Then, throwing a total instrumental in the middle was just the icing on the cake. Nearly every song had this weird minute or so start time before any vocals start. It’s annoying. Just my thoughts.

Trust you guys, so looking forward to this one. Saw dying fetus last weekend on graspop and it was horrible. Singer sounds like Donald Duck. What a joke.😂

Yeah, it flew under the radar until it came out and totally punched me in the face. Along with Strychnos & Vitriol, Noxis would definitely be in my top 10 for first half of the year.

I had a hunch that this band had "it" when I heard Slave to the Scalpel. This album rips. 4.5/5 for me.

The only part I liked was the solo in the beginning of Release the Stench, I think each thing these people churn out since their first EP is just progressively worse each release. The vocal collab in Ride the Flatline was the most cringeworthy thing I've heard in a while, and that's saying something, just so fucking awful. I was thinking they could maybe turn it around, since I was already disappointed with the direction they took on Slave to the Scalpel... whatever.

I actually appreciated them when they first came out with their EP when covid was in full swing, but ever since then they have just been morphing into a more basic bitch streamlined dm/hc fusion type of thing, with every release getting rid of more and more of what I initially liked about them.

Necrotic Nick- Hey, to each their own. I didn't mind the vocal collab even though I'm not the biggest fan of Code Orange but that more hardcore section worked well with the song in my opinion. I'm definitely on the opposite side of this as I see the band improving with each release but that's just me.

I tried to like them, but they're boring to me.
