Good bit of info to share jase
Prefix the housing with diesel before you pop the new filter in saves manually pumping to fill it

I've that its usually a bit of dirt stuck in the sensor at the bottom of the bowl that causes the light to come on. Filter usually looks likes new when ever inspected.
Secondary pre or post fuel filter is a good bit of insurance!!
same engine (basic) in my 79dc. fill the bowl and hoses with diesel before reconnecting. pump the primer a few times until hard and starts first go.

Jane was that the first or second filter,if it was the second what micron was the first filter.
HI I LIVE IN LIGHTNING RIDGE AND SOME OF OF MY FISHING TRIPS ON THE WESTERN NSW RIVERS HAVE BEEN BAD. THAT BLACK SOIL WHEN WET IS NASTY CRAP.
How have you managed the dust that gets in on the engine side of the air filter. The box does not seal properly.

Good call they got notorious issues with dusting out
how does dirt get in you gas tank
And spares do not take up much space, as it could only take 1 bad fill of fuel.

You don't clean them just change it
that's not how to it
Trust the boy's they know.
