The rural folks will be working very hard to keep themselves safe and fed and will not anyone else shorten their supplies.

One of the dumbest things I think we've ever done as a society is lay so much on electricity. If this ever does happen it really would be the end of the world. Solar power, and generators, etc. could only do so much.

The solar/wind electric producing equipment will be stolen and most likely broken during removal.

Just buy a few items when you go grocery shopping. Im 72 and on fixed income but with the grocery assistance cards now you dont miss the money. Thats how ive been storing up and am running out of space. Time to make a run to sisters to stash some of it.

Mostly we are toast, however there are possibilities, hopefully most people will understand it takes a team to survive. Most of us older people do have some skills which we can pass on to the younglings. We not be able to plow the south 40 but we can do many of the less labor intensive functions. We can teach and take care of kids, we can stand watch at night so those who can do the hard labor can rest to do so the next day. We can cook, to a certain degree we can both scavenge and gather. The true skill is understanding both when it is time to fight and survive by contributing to a group effort. But it is also critical those of us who have lived our lives understand there could become a time when we have to check out. At my age I am not going to watch the children in my group of people starve so that I can eat for a few more days. We can also still prep by learning new things, gradually storing up water, food, medical and sanitation supplies. If you do not have a firearm, the first should be a shotgun, a 12 gauge if you can handle the recoil, a 410 if you cannot. Then a .22 rifle of some form, both the 410 and .22 can be bought for little money and don't forget the ammo, as much as you can afford over time. Then a pistol, again finances rule here, if money is a problem and for most of it is, then a High Point pistol while having critics galore, will do what it is designed to do. Learn to handle all of them. It might be fine to check out to save others but do not let evil take you without a fight, you may not win but do not make it easy for them, even if you lose you may take one or more of them with you, thereby saving others. Learn what first aid you can and get at least basic supplies. Learn as much as you can about plants. One thing most of us older people do have may not be money but we do have time. Learning things beats the hell out of sitting around and watching soap operas. I will close by saying just accept God's will by saying that is BS, God expects us to try no matter what. We may fail and that is just part of being a human being and at some point we are all going to be called home. I do not want to explain my life by saying I gave up when I could have tried. Giving up life to save others is being the best human being we can be, giving up and just dying because of fear and an unwillingness to try is well not something I care to explain when I have to justify my gift of life.

Find a neighbor or a friend, and be really nice to them. Start getting yourself all the meds you need, and exercise. Purchase a gun. But you have to buy one that you can get ammunition for. Many guns you can buy, are impossible to find the right bullets for. Don't let that happen. Figure out a way to carry your own supplies. Nooné will be able to give theirs up. Get a cart with wheels that you can pull. Learn survival skills, and first aid. You can be valuable if you have a useful skill. You will have to keep up. Understandably, slowing people down will make you a hazard.

In thé beginning, no money, no cities, no private Land, no border, no electricity, no internet, no phone, no gun, no cars, no fridge. Your fathers were more happy than you yet. Endtimes.

72 some disabilities. Ive been planning to go to my sisters house. Its a bit more remote than this little apt. In a town and a few other family members will be there as well. Slowly stocking our "stash" of food and water.

Where are all the bomb shelters that will have six months of food and water and air filtration, and human waste disposal system, and first aid kits and medicines? Are there enough bomb shelters for 350 million people? It does no good for the government to tell the people to seek shelter, if there are no bomb shelters.

We are on our own. After an EMP attack there probably won’t be a nuclear war. There will be no need for it. The next move would be a ground attack. This way there is no damage to the infrastructure. For America there will be no communication. Communication is key. I’m sure the military hardened their hardware to be impervious to EMP attacks. But 100 percent. Doubtful.

I have an extremely limited income and virtually no disposable income. I don't go to fast food, no Starbucks, McDonald's or Dunkin coffee, no cable TV, no gym membership or entertainment budget (well, a paperback book now and then). I do pick up one or two extra cans of food, pasta, rice, beans, etc. And I don't talk about it (well, until now). If folks don't know that you have it, they can't take it. Yes, I've had things taken without permission--once---and it will never happen again. It hot the mark when he said "trust".

Lucky. I did live rural but relocated to be near family. HUGE mistake . I wonder. I do have some disabilities but on the upper floors here I couldn't possibly go up and down the stairwells. Elevators won't be working.

Newer power options will be shit but rigging up a generator with a simple pull cord lawn mower would work! Basically if there is a circuit board it's shot! Basic carburetor style engines like a push mower would be fine! Giving you a method to turn a generator!

They will drive them (if they run) to their retreat (if they have one), and park them cause there's no gas to be had, or to dangerous to drive. Money would be better spent on preps or the BOL.
