I am a younger American; (not older than dirt, but younger than Janis Joplin , lol) my friend Timothy, whom is 25+ yrs older than me, took me to a Blues Festival in St Louis MO, ( back in the 80s) and I've been hooked on Blues, soul music ever since.. I will always be grateful. I was a farmers daughter, raised in a small town, (not far from the Canadian border), population was 128 people, my graduation class consisted of 7 students, 8 with me. I will always be in debt to my Chicago friend.

I'm listening from Nigeria. This kind of song was written and sung when lyrics stood above beats and yet these ones had both. Those were days when music ministered to the soul.

The difference is these were masters of their instruments. Talented people who worked hard to master their instruments. Not like these of today who can’t play put up a performance without sound engineer

This is the old blues where its meaning is pointent to the word 65year old man who was bought up in classic music so i missed a lot of this music till 16 then hearing it for the first time in the merchant navy and when i went to New York i bought old blues records catching up what i had missed keep on rolling

One thing about it. They don't make blues music like they used to. When you are old school and these wet behind-the-ears pups think they know what music is. Just turn it on and turn it up. Set yourself down with a bottle of whiskey and let the music go all the way to your soul. When you wake up in the morning you feel so much better. Because there ain't nothin better than the blues for healing.
