@Dafyd Maddz ofc deep purple is great and inspired Metallica (Metallica mentioned them in their rock and roll hall of fame speech) but the comparison didn't make sense to me bc the context of the video is riffs which hammet is barely responsible for.

+Owain Griffiths We're not specifically talking about the 70's. It's called "of all time" Read the title. Yes, Black Sabbath is an amazing band, but they didn't need to take up 6 spots, and Ozzy taking another spot. Yes, they were influential and stuff, but show some diversity.

To be fair, Black Sabbath/Ozzy/Dio deserve every spot they have on this list, you could add more even. But if you take into consideration that they are the top 15 basically, my #1 would be Raining blood for sure. Jeff Hanneman was a beast for creating crazy riffs. I think the thrash scene have some of the best riffs, but to be fair I think in 20 years if we re-do a top 15, 30 or 50 of best metal riffs of all time, Melodic Death Metal will occupy a very large portion of that list. That genre is pushing the limits of guitar playing year after year lately

Damn look at that crowd while Korn was playing blind. I saw Korn a few years ago and the crowd was completely dead aside from a small group of us. Every concert I go to now seems like noone's into it anymore. I miss those concert days in my teen years in the 90's full of just pure raw energy. Headbanging like hell with everyone jumping around and just having a blast. Times have definitely changed.

@@zachariahlloyd6043 Wish I could've man born just a little too late lol. One of the best and craziest shows I ever went to was Pantera with my uncle in 1998. Nearly everyone was high as fuck or tanked out of their minds going bat shit crazy and it was a blast. I understand time goes on and things change but I just don't see that passion and excitement anymore. We saw Maiden a few years ago and again the crowd was just dead. Corey Taylor made a good point about people watching concerts through their phones while they record instead of being in the moment like it used to be.
