2 Wolves in 2 Days - Ontario 2022
Спорт
This is a predator management hunt in Ontario, Canada. The wolf population in Ontario needs to be managed for the good of other wildlife. A single grown wolf can kill an animal as large as a bull moose, and calves don't stand a chance. Hopefully the Michigan Department of Natural Resources will realize that reopening a wolf season in the Upper Peninsula could help restore the extremely diminished whitetail population.
Both wolves harvested in this video were taken with ethical, well-placed rifle shots that resulted in immediate non-suffering expiration.

Minnesota rancher, Great hunt! My compliments to the outfitter that set you up. Great job!
Was that a guide hunt if so what's the outfitter
Awesome! Love wolves, love their control even more!
What outfitter did you use?
Did you use a guide ?
What a world of difference a pair of snow shoes would have made. Honestly.
Hallo what are you shooting for a caliber for Wolfhunting?
Great to watch. I used to moose hunt there a long time ago. What outfitter did you use?
Good job on the wolves. Can't wait to see what kind of snowshoes you get for the future. Thanks!
Great job boys! What time of year was this ? (Sorry if I missed that detail) Looks warm lol
You guys eat the wolf? What do u do with them after?
Watching you guys trudge through the snow gives me even more appreciation for how well they thrive during such harsh winters. Great video!
Did the moose population in ontario a big favor there men! Nice work.
What a couple of Beasts, the wolves weren't bad either LOL. Great Job!

All I can say is an awesome vid just try and remember the snow shoes... lol

I barely saw what you were shooting at.
The second one is funny. The looked it it forever and only when it moved did they know for sure. It’s amazing the stuff you can look over or make yourself think you see when nothing is moving.

Are u dumb or what, he won’t eat the wolves. They’re predators and they eat our food, so they need to be killed to keep a stability less wolves = less angry mouths = more animals alive = more food for us
Nice video and congrats for the harvested wolves. I have always been reluctant to harm or kill animals if I’m not to eat them. That’s why, as much as I love fishing, I don’t personally catch and release since many fish don’t survive the stress. (I know many will be angry and say that the proper technique does not harm the fish etc....) I don’t judge if you do, it’s just how I do it personally and respect what others do if it’s done in a respectful and conscientious manner. As a bow hunter I know wolf and fox are killers of the venison I care for and that harvesting some predators will certainly benefit other parts of the ecosystem. Do you have any advice on how to make good use of a predator? I know I can tan the hide but is the meat even fit for human consumption? Do you know of some people that could take advantage of the meat? I can only think of feeding it to farm cats but there sure are other options. P.S. the question is not to judge what others do. It’s because I do hunt small game and next time I see a predator I may take a shot. I want to know in advance what I’ll do as a next step to take care of the carcass. Looking to have opinion/expertise from the community ;)

The animal won’t forgive you for killing it no matter what you do with its corpse. Would you forgive someone for killing your kids if they ate them? “Well I used their bodies”. It’s idiotic and based solely on extremely immature human emotions. You kill things that need to be killed and don’t kill things that don’t. Moose populations in Ontario are extremely low. There is no excuse for killing a moose in this province right now no matter what you do with it. Wolf populations on the other hand are completely out of control. There are 14,000 wolves up against 100,000 moose. Wolves on isle Royale are killing 8.9 moose each on average. That means we have enough wolves in this province to completely eradicate every moose in just a year, and that’s what’s happening. The only wolf that’s wasted is the one still breathing. You shouldn’t have to do anything with the carcass. The value in it is that it’s dead.

Dear Try This First, maybe I wasn’t clear enough, let make it simpler for you to understand. I would not hesitate to shoot a wolf If I encounter one during season. I already have some ideas of what to do with the meat and know couple farmers. Like I stated before I was looking for other ideas from people more experienced than I am. I totally agree with you that moose populations are in decline and that lowering the number of wolves would be beneficial for a healthier game population. Were we differ is that my desire to make use of the animals I harvest is something I do for my own conscience, certainly not for the wolf’s feelings and I don’t judge you if it’s not your thing, please be open minded the outcome is the same, we both want to see wolf population decline. In the grand scheme of things, we can argue if human intelligence and our ability to use tools like firearms, scopes and traps is only the fruit of evolution and makes it fair play for us to completely eradicate a specie we consider pest or perhaps overhunt a desirable one out of pure greed. Can I remind you of the near miss that is the American bison or of the definitive extinction of many more due to various human activity? Loss of habitat is a big cause of animal decline that many anti-hunter groups don’t even acknowledge they’re part of. This lost of habitat makes for weaker prey thus easy meals for predators like wolfs, better management of predator population via hunting is certainly a part of the solution. On a final note, do you even know that wolves that we selectively bred to become dogs were a good help for civilisation expansion? From guarding from predators, to retriever dogs used in hunting to herding livestock, humans and wolves have a very profound common history. I don’t want a future where I must explain to my kids and grandkids why human slayed every wolf under the sun, I prefer one where I teach them how the food chain works and why we need to keep certain animals in check even if we’re not to eat them but always be respectful and try to make the best use of the carcass. To go back to evolution and human intelligence, I think that with great power comes great responsibility. @@Trythis837

@@nicolasgarneau4200 humans in the past managed wolves through denning. By going in and killing pups they could limit the wolf population while still maintaining pack structure and territory. The first dogs were wolf pups removed from dens for population control. As the Russians demonstrated, it doesn’t take many generations to completely change the look of an animal when you select for temperament. I think that as humans who hunt at this point in history we should only kill animals if it benefits the ecosystem. In Ontario the only thing that you really can justify killing besides geese are fur bearing predators. To me I have a hard time killing an animal for meat.
Et en plus fier de lui !.....

All these bleeding hearts!! Beautiful, kill some more wolves. There are many places that have decimated game populations, because of wolves.
I just read this entire thread, and it amazes me how uninformed some people are and they don't understand that wolves need to be managed ! several people have noted "that nature will balance itself out" not true, the wolves WILL NOT reduce their numbers until they have killed off EVERY , Moose, Elk , mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope , coyotes, rabbit , turkeys and every other living animal is gone.. every adult wolf will have 6-10 pups every spring , there is nothing controlling their population at all. The lack of management of one species could make every other animal EXTINCT ! then what ? it's too late, because people thought they could manage wildlife with their emotions instead of their brains.. it is literally that simple..
Wolf populations are NOT out of control in southern Ontario and do not need hunting. Coyotes? Lots of them but, wolves? No. There has been no concern about needing predator management from wolves. They mostly feed on white tail deer and other smaller animals which we have in abundance. So sad to see you shot this animal for no good reason. What a shame.

Blsht! Wolves eat the equivalent of 35 caribou/yr, or 20 moose/yr. ADFG game count in the Brookes Range found 200 caribou that had been slaughtered by a pack of wolves. They disembowled most of them and the caribou ran stepping in their own guts until they just dropped. The only part of those caribou that was ea tree en were the noses...nothing else. Wolves decimate an ungulate population until there's not enough to support the wolves and then move to another area and start the process over again.

@@davidphillips4584 Neither Caribou nor Moose populations were at risk of extinction due to wolves before or since humans became involved, they adjusted naturally. Wolf populations also adjust based on the availability of game, they have less pups and more pack deaths due to the stress of hunger-again, numbers adjust naturally. I support intelligent hunting and when the game is consumed, it's a net plus for this country. But killing animal predators that are no threat to human beings upsets the balance of nature, it's pointless and destructive. One exception I allow for is when an individual wolf or sub-pack becomes a threat to domestic animals, then they have to be culled.

@@zekethefishgeek8690 This is absolutely not true. Wolf populations fluctuate and stabilize according to the availability of prey, which in turn determines the number of couples that mate and rear cubs. Wolf hunters use the rhetoric that they are "helping" the natural order of things. By keeping their numbers low, they somehow think that a deer or moose tag will be easier to realize. Total BS. Wolves have only starved in Europe during the 18th century, when success of heavy Winters reduced deer and other wildlife populations. All wolves are equally opportunistic and can scavenge... They don't eat just deer/moose in Ontario. This is just an excuse to skin out a wolf and retain a pelt. And Zeke should study some wildlife biology ... @@zekethefishgeek8690 I think hunting for sport is an evil deed. I also understand that killing is something that has to be done sometimes. But a person that takes joy from it has something evil in their core. Laughing, smiling and feeling good about yourself because you took a life is just wrong. Some people hunt to eat, but that does not mean they feel good about taking a life. Hunters need to look into themselves and try to understand why they feel so good and macho about killing. Makes you feel like a big tough man doesn't it? Something to stuff and hang on your wall or skin to throw on your floor so you can brag to all your hunter friends on the kill. I am a firm believer that God put animals on earth so man could survive by hunting for food not to walk around with their chest puffed out because they'd killed for their own ego. And if this hurt your itty bitty feelings maybe you should go on a really long walkabout away for civilization until you learn humility, simpathy, compassion, remorse, respect, hunger and need over not needing but killing anyway.
