2 NEW Male Lions Take Over | Marataba Luxury Lodges | South Africa

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

A quiet morning transformed into one brimming with excitement and adventure for us at Marataba Luxury Lodges here in the Waterberg, South Africa.
Two new male lions have seized control of the core territory at Marataba, setting the prides into motion. An entirely natural yet concerning time lies ahead, particularly for the Kingfisher pride for two critical reasons.
Firstly, they are nurturing two tender cubs, now approximately 6 months old.
Secondly, the young male of the pride, around 3 years old, is now on the move while the two new males are hot on his trail.
The unfolding dynamics of the lion pride mesmerised us on this extraordinary morning, providing a firsthand glimpse into their world.

The young male managed to to get away from the 2 older male lions, but he will have a tough time from now on in, his nomadic life begins now and we will most likely be on the run until he is big enough to challenge for his own pride

These 2 guys look fit & ready to guard their block...a rough neighborhood for a coalition of 2 so we shall see if they are up to the task...wish them good luck

Sometimes the lion dynamics are all over the place. One minute they say lions will fight to the death for their pride and territory but sometimes they just walk away and live somewhere else.

Why would new lions be introduced? Just to stir up trouble for the Kingfisher Pride & their new cubs, not to mention the young male? I will never understand when we are told there's no human intervention when there clearly is 💔

Hi Nora these males came over from the Marakele national park all naturally - its not a bad thing for the purposes of genetics, if there is a genetic bottle neck it can become a threat to the species, so genetic diversity is important, but these males came in all by themselves Marataba is open to the Marakele national park, its a massive area over 70 000 Ha thats just over 170 000 acres of land

If these two lions just entered the area, they are NOT the dominant males. I have nothing to do with safaris or lions but even I know that.

They have moved in and have taken over the territory from the previous dominant males which have not been seen for quite sometime
