DUI laws are very relaxed and easy to bailout. The state needs to be tough to deal with it. Take away the car, suspend driver license for good and heavy penalties.

35 people die in drunk driving crashes every day in the US and no one seems to care. Oh sure, there are those that send prayers, but I am talking about real caring, like changing the penalties for DUI. It should be a mandatory 30 days in jail for your first DUI. Add five years if you hurt someone and 10 years if you kill someone. Second DUI= 1 year in jail plus 5 years if you hurt someone and 20 years if you kill someone. Third Dui, etc., etc.

And 40,000 die every year from traffic accidents. They don't seem to care about that fact either. An out of control muscle car industry selling high speed cars to people with more money than sense is to blame as well. No one wants to admit that problem. Its a carnage we've grown to accept.

European countries are far more strict with DUI penalties. I'm not a supporter of everything that goes on in the EU these days but at least they are far more serious about dealing with drunk driving.

How sad for the officers to face thistype of scenes every day thank you for your service officers

Every time we leave our homes this could happen. Please be cautious and let others pass you or get in front of you. Sometimes, I just pull over and say, "bye"! I rather be late than never get there! Blessings to all in these Holiday Season and please be careful.

Poor big rig driver.

Sweet Jesus, heartbreaking. A woman in our neighborhood did this same thing. Rural 2 lane rd and a trucker unhooked his semi trailer leaving it on shoulder. Thats what she hit. The trailer was not ever there before and it wasn't very visible. Deepest condolences to those involved

It's better to celebrate indoors, drink, have fun, and avoid ending your life in such a tragic way!

It wasn't the 2 people who died that were drinking and the only other vehicle was the tractor trailer.

DUI drivers almost never die!

Point number one trucks should never park on the side of the freeway I drive a truck never done this point number two if your not on your phone or drunk you won't hit them

@@understandingunderstanding4880, this accident was covered on the local news here in southern california. the truck was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway and sustained damage to the left side of the rear of the trailer. if you look at the damage on the honda accord, you'll notice the majority of the damage is to the passenger side.

I have been behind big rigs that suddenly park on the side of the road and even slow down in the middle of the freeway while cars are going 65mph or more. It's so dangerous. Why do they do they do that? I have almost rear ended one because of that.

I still don't understand why we have bars and restaurants that serve alcohol and expect people to drive home .. At the end of the day ,they only care about your $$$ .... All cars need to come standard with a Blood test Monitor for drugs and alcohol.

@@Ballsy_. Maybe so, but Truck Drivers are limited on the number of hours they can drive each day, plus a thirty minute break. If truck stops or rest areas are full or want exorbitant prices to reserve a place, where else can they go? Most big box stores ban overnight parking so that’s out.

Only one person was driving and they survived. We don’t know if the passengers were telling the driver to slow down or not. Can’t judge them since they weren’t in control.

To dislodged the tandems on a semi trailer you would have to be going an outrageous speed… and it looks like both weren’t wearing seat belts with the location of the yellow fatality tarps. Unfortunately the usa highways are now filled with aggressive drivers like this.

Put this car on a school campus so kids will see the consequences of DUI 🤔🥺

Imagine if all those trucks passing by had to be recharged... California would not have enough power to make grewsone our next idiot on chief....

Wanna bet that somehow the perpetrator's defense will try to blame the truck.

Unfortunately PMTV provides no other details on time etc. Most likely another DUI at 2:30am going 100mph+ and can’t process a truck in the lane. I haven’t had a drink in 5 years. We lose all judgement. Just stop drinking.

It'll be three years for me come July. My initial plan was to give my liver a rest and not consume alcohol for a month turned out to be easier than I thought. Don't miss it at all.

Guess the passenger didn't seem to care how drunk the driver was. He was speeding and if that didn't make the passenger scared then WTF. Tell the driver to slow down or let me out of the car. I would not get into a car when the driver is shitfaced to drive. Call UBER instead and get home alive.

DUI is always the one that survives...is there something to being drunk that protects you from a crash?

It also depends on your perception of the crash. Once I crashed on the freeway with my road bike because of a small rock, of all things 😂. The thin tire of a bicycle went flying into oncoming traffic while I fell, with a helmet on, towards the concrete. For some odd reason, I felt relaxed while falling because all I could think about was checking on my bike rather than worrying about the impact 😂on my body 😵‍💫😵😮‍💨🤦🏽‍♀️

It's because they are the ones hitting someone. It's different when you get hit as opposed to being the hitter. Being drunk and loose may play a minor role but don't forget alcohol thins the blood. The drunk driver would more than likely bleed out faster than someone with the same injuries but no blood alcohol content. I'm no medical student so my my opinion shouldn't really hold any weight. Just makes logical sense to me.

How drunk AND stupid do you have to be crash on a road where all the cars are going the same direction? No intersections, no cars pulling out, just go with the effing flow and stay in your lane. RIP to anyone not responsible. I wonder how many people driving by are piss drunk looking at that mess.

So much can be said about what may have been the cause. Just look at the scene and it says it all. I don't want my driver on the phone or drinking. The parents are going to want answers and wonder what those answers will be.

Unless you read the information you wouldn't be able to tell what kind of car that was... Also why is it that the drunk drivers never die , just the look in the car with the driver or more innocent people are always the ones who die ?? I don't want anyone to die but DUI driver's always seems to walk away!!
