Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Quasimodo is continuing to do great all considering! We have a new routine for taking care of his eyes. Plus some updates on how he eats and what is being done to better temperature control his enclosure.

I had a betta named Quasimodo with severe back deformities haha Great to see your Quasi doing well. Of course it's highly likely he won't live long but as long as he's thriving with someone who cares as much as you do, his life's great no matter how short

Thanks for the updates, I'm so happy he's doing so well. I love to see him jump, he seems to have a lot of strength, especially since his(their?) heads are so heavy as you said. Keep it up little Quasi, you're a survivor!

He seems to be doing very well! I'm curious what are your plans for him moving forward such as getting an x-ray? I feel removal of the middle eyes and permanent closure could lighten his heads. I also wonder if some kind of brace/mold could be made to help guide the growth of his jaws/faces to help make eating easier for him.

You're doing a great job. I've dealt with several malformed chicks, but care seems relatively similar. Is he meeting milestones for his age? He doesn't seem stressed or suffering, so I'd say your care is perfect!

Honestly, the milestones for crested geckos are eating and drinking mainly. They come out of the egg pretty self-sufficient. Which is another reason why it's so hard to make any calls about his care.

So why can't the tongues lick the eyes?

Because it isn't actually two headed. It's just one reeeally effed up head

His 2 tongues developed too short, it seems. They also point inward instead of being positioned in the middle of either head. I'm hoping (if he makes it for any length of time) that his tongues will develop a bit more. I'm not expecting a miracle or anything... just to grow a teeny bit. It could also be that he hasn't figured out how to use them properly yet. He catches on to things. It just takes him a bit longer than a normal gecko to get the hang of it. It's ok, I'm patient 🙂

Looks more like horribly disfigured than two headed. Either way, seems cruel.

There’s plenty of twoheaded/two faced reptiles that thrive into adult hood

She makes a point in prior videos that she's watching for signs of distress. The heads are heavy for a baby gecko, but the fact that the baby can jump and climb is really impressive. She's promised to cull if there is suffering. And if the gecko grows it'll have more body to support its head. Odds are against it living (and she's clear on that) but day 6 baby seems stronger than day 1 baby. Two-headed reptiles are used as ambassadors all the time. While most don't survive the ones that do can be used to make people who would otherwise be afraid of reptiles curious instead.

@@lucas_chet1789 their point was it doesn't look like a good quality 2 headed reptile that thrives into adulthood, it looks disfigured
