2 Brothers Vanish 10 Years Apart Remote Alaska, Only Muddy Shoes Found

#michaelpalmer
#chuckypalmer
#missinginalaska
Hello everyone, in today's video I will be discussing the very bizarre disappearance of 2 Brothers who went missing almost eleven years apart from each other in Alaska, both under very mysterious circumstances. Michael Palmer went missing on June 4, 1999 and only his muddy high top converse sneakers were found.. His bike, which he had apparently borrowed from someone was found in the Little Susitna River. roughly 9 miles from his house. The story the friends told just didn't seem to add up..
Michael is 5'5 - 5'6, 110 pounds, and was last seen wearing
A t-shirt, blue jeans and a black jacket with red stripes on the sleeves. He is a white male and has Blond/brown hair, blue eyes, is left-handed. He went by the name Mike and at the time of his disappearance, his hair was shaved on the sides and longer in the center.
His brother Chucky went missing in the Talkeetna Mountains of Alaska while on an outdoor trip with his other brother, step dad, and some friends. He went missing on April 10, 2010 near Bald Mountain.. This is the story of missing Palmer brothers. In this video I go into detail about what happened to each brother. (what we know) There are still so many unknowns in both cases.
Chucky is roughly 5'8 - 6'0, 135 - 160 pounds
Last seen wearing a black Gore-Tex jacket and vest, black snow pants, black boots and a black snowboarding helmet.
He is a white male, with brown hair and blue eyes. Charles's nickname is Chucky.
if you have any information regarding either case , please contact the Alaska State Troopers at: 907-745-2131.
Both cases remain unsolved to this day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Palmer family, and Chris who lost both of his brothers to the Alaskan wilderness. 🙏🙏 I hope and pray you can get your brothers back one day soon, one way or another🙏

Bryan you’re doing a great job bringing these cases back into the spotlight, I’m sure their families appreciate all your hard work and dedication in helping to find their missing loved ones. It’s absolutely shocking to me how many people just up and disappear into thin air, never to be heard from again.

Regarding Michael I suggest that there is no doubt that his disappearance was not accidental. The bike and shoes are indicators. However, if a PI was run out of town because she was threatened while investigating, that clinches it. I am hoping she turned over her contact list and any notes including interviews to the Alaska State Troopers. My thinking is that if a person (or people) make threats that impede an investigation, they are either hiding something and/or protecting someone. I would hope the Troopers would be all over it. Regarding, Chucky, his disappearance does sound as if it was a dreadful misadventure. I cannot imagine how awful the past 20 years have been for their family. Losing two men in the very prime of their lives would be heartbreaking. I will keep them all in my prayers.

Could not have stated this better. I imagine one day Chucky will be found. But if people were concerned about the first boy going missing. There would be no need to intimidate the investigator. I have heard stories about many Alaskan cities and foul play is not surprising. Hope the family receive answers.

I found these 2 stories heartbreaking,. As a Mom to two sons, i can't imagine. I used to do SAR work with my German Shepherd. My Brother was a Coast Guard pilot who flew and did SAR work on the East Coast. I'm going on the facts seen here. So, I find it EXTEREMLY odd that only 50 people went out yo search for Michael. A local teen is lost, near his home and that's all? Talkeetna is a very busy city. It is a tourist Hot Spot in Alaska! All of the large cruise ships go into Port there. Which means lots of people. You would think that they would be worried it would chase off tourists. Not to mention, this area is really big in Wildlife tourism on land. I've looked into going there myself.. Then Covid hit. And he was a local kid. Normally, there are too many volunteers. They go searching before a grid can be set up, lists of volunteers created and most importantly instructions given out. There is a science to this. But, this search seems very lax. I think something very likely happened at that party. Most teens wouldn't leave a friend behind on a bike ride home. Not alone. The water was too far away for him to accidentally fallen in. With the trees etc...no. And I would love to know where that runway was in relation to his last known sighting, the river and his home. etc... The guy changed his story? Then with the PI being chased out of town? It certainly sounds very suspicious. The second brother, Chuck, is really sad. His brother must be absolutely destroyed by this. I know I would be. It could be he wrecked. The deep snow would show footprints. However, if it had snowed, a wet snow. It can fill those holes in and compress itself. So they aren't seen to the naked eye. It sounds like it was late when they found him missing. Without a compass, GPS. Radio etc...it can become relatively easy for a person to get turned around. It even happens to pros. Bad weather and add darkness, it can happen. He could've wandered off and died of hypothermia. If he wrecked,, he could've hit his head and become disoriented. Why was the search called so soon? I understand not being able to go up in bad weather. The Temps play a huge role. Why not still search in the day on foot? We just don't know Without more detail anyway. I will look more into this case.💕🙏🇺🇸

What are you smoking? I live in Alaska and Talkeenta it is the exact opposite of a "very busy city"- in fact the population was only 1199 in 2020. They do get tourists but it is definitely not a "hot spot" for anything. Also, the town is NOWHERE near the ocean and cruise ships do NOT go there. I do agree, this is tragic

I'm from Wasilla born and raised and still live here. I remember both cases very well. The rumor Mill is still buzzing especially about Michael's case. I agree with the belief that Michaels friends know alot more than they say they do. I think Chucky's case was an accident due to the elements. Alaska is unforgiving if your not experienced in dealing with the weather here. It is odd that Chucky's riding group didn't bother to wait for him and it's odd that being the least experienced rider that he was in the rear of the group. Literally anything could have happened to him. It's sad and prayers go out to the Palmer family. Also Brian if u enjoy Alaska cases u should do a video on David Borer. He is a 7 yr old kid that disappeared on April 26 1989 and has never been found.

We never had a moose strike at that corner prior to or in the 2 decades since those two. It was freaky. Still gives me chills to this day.

It definitely is strange that they both went missing...although, we as listeners don't know the family history etc. I am from SE AK& that area is a whole different world...not a kind small town vibe whatsoever. Anchorage/Wasilla has a lot of serial killers, drugs (therefore nefarious behavior etc) thick forests&a couple dangerous animals so it is a coincidence for sure but when you see the landscape up there you realize how vast it is and how many cases the PD and troopers have is incredible so things Def get overlooked. Super sad. My heart goes out to the families.

Yeah, there are a couple of true crime series that just focus on true crime in Alaska. Each episode opens with a statement to the effect of "you are more likely to be murdered in Alaska than in any other U.S. state." I don't live in the U.S., and I like snow and cold, but the long dark winters combined with drug use, mental illness, poverty, lack of access to resources, and the intense cold, all seem to combine to make a very scary combination. It's beautiful, but I'll appreciate the beauty from afar. I can't imagine what this poor family is going through. They must love it very much in Alaska not to want to move elsewhere. Perhaps they feel connected to the place now more than ever, given that the bodies of two loved ones are presumably there. I hope they are found.

The second brother, how old was he? It's wierd that he left his snowmobile. It was a source warmth. Being from Alaska he would have known to stay by the vehicle. He should have built a hasty shelter. Maybe he was looking for dead fall branches and lost sight of the snowmobile. Also wierd that they didn't find him in the summer.

Your account is slightly off in regards to Michael first the party was at a the river at a bridge. A regular and weekly party that teens had there. Talked to four teenagers who were supposedly there and the second version that you heard is closest to the truth . Did hear the story and will not recant but imagine a fight at a party where there are as many as a hundred teenagers gathered and something serious happens. They scattered and left the scene. That was the end of their account. The Troopers knew this and and investigated and were reportedly looking for his body on a highway that leads out of the Mat valley. Presumably tracking the suspects cell phones. However they still never found him. As rumors go, I have heard that the suspects are off the streets charged with other crimes. Strangely enough I don't know as much about chucky, even though my homestead is just south of the mountain. There's a cabin that has popped up and about a mile south along my trail down the mountain and they may have been there. The only other choice is mine and I leave it open and a lot of people use it. Didn't know about the incident at the time or definitely would have tried to help since I doubt anyone else knows the area better. I tried to get cords for his last know location and the location of the recovered snowmachine but was unable able to. What I can tell you this is a rough area ,complete with cliffs and a steep decline into sheep. River gorge ( about a mile or more almost straight down at 80% angle). In the winter it is basically clear riding but in the summer there are lots of alder bushes that are no longer pushed down under the snow that spring up to about a height of 8 ft. My understanding is that it was snowing and when it snows up there it snows. I have been ten yards from my cabin and could not see it. I have a grizzle that my property is in his territory and a active wolf pack. His best chance of being found was when his friends saw him ride off in the wrong direction... Don't want to sound cruel but would not want to be one of his friends whose lack of judgement possibly caused the loss of their friend. This is the ideal place to make your final resting place so I hope he's resting in peace. To put ALASKA search efforts in perspective, once it's determined that the chance of you being alive is gone so are most of the search efforts.

  • @roberthenderson7738

    @roberthenderson7738

I wasn't up there when he went missing but there were no tracks near the snowmachine. It was snowing, but apparently not so hard that his friends could see him head off in the wrong direction .. This is just above the treeline and can be dangerous riding if you don't know the area. Why his friends were unable to find him is hard to figure. My guess is he road off a cliff and his throttle was frozen. His machine took off without him. He wouldn't have been able to back track and may of had trouble getting around in the deep snow or was injured in the fall. Whatever the case, I have no idea why, once his machine was located, they were apparently unable to backtrack to his location.. Maybe they didn't go looking for him until the snow had covered his tracks. This second brother was an adult. As far as finding him in the summer, a couple of Troopers in a helicopter looked around but didn't find him. They don't expend much resources on recovery efforts here when the target is presumably deceased. There are bears, black and brown and a wolf pack that call that area home. Dead things don't lay around long.

I agree with you, It sounds suspicious with Michael's disappearance. Things don't make sense, to me. The first PI was threatened, and had to leave town. Why? Probably because she was a threat to exposing some information. And, the second PI found he didn't leave the party, yet his bike and shoes were found in different areas. Alaska is a huge place, with most areas being remote.... So, if something happened to him, there are so many places to put him... Then to lose another son, is devastating... Lots of people go missing in Alaska..The environment is brutal and can snatch your life with the quickness, along with wildlife that is dangerous...The other factor is how remote everything is, if someone has an issue with someone else, they will probably have an opportunity to act on it, with ultimate privacy..The same can be said for those that are criminal psychopaths, which unfortunately are out there...

Good story. And a family losing two sons without answers is tremendously troubling, agree. Re Chucky. When he fell behind he could've easily followed the tracks of his snowmobile buddies ahead of him. So getting lost would be unlikely. However, he may have attempted a shortcut to catch up with the guys & became stuck in rough terrain. If so, logically, hopefully, he would've trekked back to the road following his own snow mobile tracks. (If it was still light enough outside to see.) And by this time he probably would've been noticed missing & heard/met searchers looking for him on the road. Like his brother's disappearance, little makes sense. I wonder, was anyone in that snowmobile outing also at the party 10 years earlier? If so, did Chucky suspect this person was involved in his brother's disappearance? Or knew who did it? Could the outing have been an opportunity to grab Chucky before he talked to police about his suspicions? Also, them possibly sabotaging/damaging Chucky's brother's snowmobile would've left Chucky more vulnerable & unprotected during the outing - no older brother to look after him. (If truly there were no human or vehicle tracks near Chucky's abandoned snowmobile, the machine may have been dropped there by plane. Where were Michael's sneakers found? A local private airstrip. Such a scheme would be very similar to staging a bike by the river. And a lot of trouble. But airplane use for transport in Alaska is as common as truck use in lower states. And the red herring bike placement worked the first time, Michael's case, so I can see the same idea used again with the snowmobile. Maybe Michael met with trouble & his body was dropped in the woods somewhere by airplane, to hide a crime? Then the same was done with Chucky & his snowmobile? A far enough distance from where he was actually abducted, to confuse searchers.)

Woah really good question on if anyone was at both the party and snowmobile trip!! Was thinking Chucky could’ve possibly been victim of an avalanche, could explain the snowmobile being partially buried but I figure Alaskans would be keen to that scenario….also i don’t know how far out he was without survival gear but hiking in steep winter terrain without proper equipment is very treacherous especially if one isn’t conditioned properly. Both stories have a lot left unanswered and I wish the best for their family

@@norml.hugh-mann I agree with you, a plane drop would badly damage it. But the CASA Aviocar (212-200) can easily carry large snow mobiles. And they do fly Alaska freight deliveries. The condition of the machine has never been disclosed though, that I can find. Even avalanche damage hasn't been mentioned. The other possibility is a daytime helicopter move & drop. Although it would be a long-shot idea to pull off unnoticed, unless the area is so remote few locals would notice. I honestly haven't a clue how else a snow mobile ends up sitting in snow, without surrounding disturbance, other than by air drop. (Avalanche, yes, possible. But why not say so? I think there are a details about this case that police are holding back for good reason. And it's causing confusion for people like us trying to figure out what happened )

@@henketooraw You make excellent points, I'm just as baffled too. But one thing is true - solid friendships formed in remote harsh areas are essential for survival & well-being. Possibly leading to turning a blind eye to suspicious or troubling activities. Completely twisted way of thinking but Alaska has one of the highest crime rates in the nation for some reason. You wouldn't think so, being somewhat cut-off from the states, but guessing Alaskans deal with unique "weather lockdown" stresses that most of us can't relate to easily. I just threw out some thoughts that came to mind. Unless someone confesses, these brothers will always be in the backs of our minds somewhere.

She disappeared on Saturday, 28 May 2011, after a birthday party she attended at Hogsback Lake, 25 kilometers southeast of Vanderhoof, British Columbia. Scott planned to spend the night camping with a friend, but her friend left during the night without Scott.[1] Some of the last people to have left three hours later, between 3am and 4am, reported speaking with Scott and asking if she wanted a ride home. Thank you for the attention you bring to these missing people. Often after a short time searches are over and families are left with no answers. I mention the large population because Wasilla has a lot of traffic. To go south then one must go through Wasilla or the area. There are many travelers and many of them are here not to be found. if This Happened in April then thats breakup time. It's just so easy up here in Alaska to get turned around and lost in the forest when there is deep snow. the 2nd case (Chucky)- small people can often walk on the crust of the snow, leaving few tracks. Then there was a lot more snow on top of that, covering all evidence. You said the later snow was wet snow. The air temp typically is warmer when snowing. Clear nights are much colder and the top layer of snow freezes, creating a thick crust of ice. If there were no tracks then he walked on the crust. Or there was enough snow fall later to cover his tracks. Either way- it seems he went down a side trail by accident. The snow machine got stuck. He tried to walk out, but died of exposure.

By taking all family members out of the will that will reduce the risk of the Glory of an inheritance and extra scrutiny to be placed on family members. Also it will remove any skepticism brought about by any jealousy. I don't say this out of maliciousness I am a criminologist and I am looking at this strictly objectively.

My theory: I can see some teenagers (drunk, at 4 am) hitting someone on a bicycle, and killing him. Then, fearing for the repercussions of their actions, moving/hiding the body and bike (or throwing them in a river). My guess is, it was a couple of punks from the party that night. Why? Because they were on the road going home at the same time, and they initially stole the kid's sneakers (something only a teen would think to do). Then (probably the next day - when sober), fearing that the sneakers might be recognized, threw them out the window of their/their friend's car. The fact that the PI was run out of town tells us that at least one of the guilty kid's fathers was politically connected (or in the local police dept). Why did the victim's brother disappear, 10 years later? Because people talk, and one of the guys that was there the night that his brother was killed, having lived with the guilt all those years, got drunk on the 10 year anniversary of the event, and confessed what happened to a friend or girlfriend. That person told his brother and he was getting ready to go to the police. When the drunk guy realized what he'd done (and that the person he told probably told the brother), he confessed to the other guy(s), and fearing they'd go to jail, they felt that they had no choice but to eliminate the brother. So, they planned kidnapped, kld, and hid his body where no one would find it. That's what I think happen. If I were investigating, I'd see if a young woman or guy, around the same age as the 1st missing brother, went missing at the same time as the 2nd brother. That person would be a close friend or girlfriend, of the participant in the crime, that got drunk snd confessed. Rest in peace Mike and Chuck!

Ya but no damage to the bike, no blood on the road or damage from a car? I'm not sure where you live but they got over 2 feet of snow the week he went missing on his bike. The kids aren't telling the truth. The whole PI being ran out of town is exaggerated. The only off part is the shoe location so coulda been foul play and body dumped into little su but hard to say when alcohol is involved. The Little Su is swift and cold. RIP Mike. Chucky shoulda been checked on by his friends!!! 😩 Always, always wait for your buddy. Absolutely tragic. He def died out there. RIP Chucky. So sorry for the loss of both of them. 🙏
