2.5l Jeep TJ 3" Lift on 35's vs The Pickle Trail in Moab, Utah | Offroading a Mildly Built Wrangler

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Pickle Trail in Moab, Utah was one of my top 3 favorite trails on our trip out there this summer. It is rated difficult and is a very short trail with three main obstacles: The Dill Pickle, Pickle Slicer, and The Jalapeno Pickle. This trail is definitely doable in a short wheelbase vehicle on 35's, but rigs with a bit more wheelbase and tire size definitely make it through a lot easier. For my setup, this trail was super fun and challenging.
The TJ has 2" Rock Krawler springs with a 1" body lift to accommodate a Teraflex Belly-up skid. It is locked front and rear with 4.88 gears and is running 35" BFG KM2's. I was pleasantly surprised how well this little Jeep handled everything we threw at it in Moab. Stacking a rock here and there goes a long way with 35" tires.
Enjoy some unedited footage from the trail!

Your jeep is awesome. I've had a 98 tj with the 4.0 and now thinking about getting a 97 with the 2.5. Great videos and you need to come to Trail jam here is Tennessee.

5.13 gears I was going to do a brake upgrade but flushed every bit of brake fluid and replaced. It is plenty and the older style TJ with no ABS, I can lock em down. Non-issue. Must be the light weight.

Thanks! Nothing fancy really. Magnaflow high flow cat and muffler! Still running stock manifold and everything. Well, I guess it is cut off right after it goes over the rear axle and tips back down, but it didn’t sound much different before I cut it off there. I just cut it so it wouldn’t keep smashing the tip

Not much around South MS really. Mostly gonna be National Forrest stuff and powerline trails. I'm not too familiar with where people go around here honestly. The closet to home that I would wheel is probably Sicily Island, LA

Definitely need a 4:1 tcase. I’ve got 5.13s and 37s now and it’s actually a lot better but still need the atlas. A lot of what your hearing that sounds like motor strain is me feathering the clutch. The 4.88s and 35s had good crawl, just not 4:1 crawl

I mean with the right gearing you would be able to make anything but he needs like 5:38 and his axles won't take those gears
