Great episode. Wayne Maunder was so underrated as an actor.

Great episode showing Scott's regal beauty and his roman features. Plus his strong tough side came through. He really carried the episode!!!!!

When Johnny first walks in, that's it. He steals the show. Damn, he's so gorgeous in that blue shirt!

I REALLY LOVED THIS EPISODE, BECAUSE IT SHOWED WHAT(WAYNE MAUNDER) AS (SCOTT LANCER) COULD DO WITH A INTENSE STORYLINE. HE. WAS SHOW CASED AS THE LEAD ACTOR IN THIS STORYLINE. EVEN THOUGH, ANDREW DUGGAN & JAMES STACY, ( MURDOCH & JOHNNY) WERE IN THE STORY THE SPOTLIGHT WAS ON SCOTT. THIS EPISODE HAD ALL THE INGREDIENTS, TO MAKE IT BELIEVABLE TO WATCH. WAYNE SHOWED THAT HE COULD DO A INTENSE STORY, & COME OUT ON TOP. THERE WAS ACTION, DRAMA, CONFLICT, ROMANCE, & IDOLIZING. SCOTT WAS CAUGHT UP IN A CONFUSING MAZE, & USED HIS BRAINS & COURAGE TO FIND HIS WAY OUT OF A BAD WRECK. TO ROUND OUT THIS STORY THE GREAT ACTING TEAM OF WARREN OATES, BRENDA SCOTT, & REX HOLMAN GAVE (WAYNE) HIS SPOT IN THE LIGHT. WHAT A GREAT EPISODE.(NOTE) I ALSO ENJOYED THE PART WHERE THE ARM_WRESTLING WAS RE INACTED WITH WAYNE(SCOTT) &JAMES(JOHNNY). TO ME IT SHOWED THAT (SCOTT) COULD CAST HIS OWN SHADOW, & NOT FEEL LIKE HE WAS WALKING IN HIS BROTHER (JOHNNY) SHADOW, & STILL COME OUT BEING THE MAN ON TOP. PLUS WITH HIS BROTHER (JOHNNY) GIVING HIM THE TIME TO LISTEN, & STILL ARM WRESTLE WITH TO SHOW THAT HE WAS THE MAN, THAT NO MATTER WHAT, HIS BROTHER HAD HIS BACK. KUDOS TOO WAYNE MAUNDER JAMES STACY, THE LANCER BROTHERS. A WESTERN TAG TEAM.😍😍🎥🎥 A LOVING LANCER FAN

Is it my imagination or does Scott kind of look like Johnny at the beginning of this episode? Scott is good looking and did a great job in this episode. Proves he doesn't need to be in Johnny's shadow. R.I.P. Wayne & James

Yep! Loved him as Sheriff Val Crawford in "Man Without A Gun". He would have been a great regular character.

I felt just a little bad for Wayne Maunder while watching this one. He didn't get a whole lot of chances to really star in an episode during Lancer's run, and when he finally gets this very dramatic story, it's STILL all about Johnny Madrid! Wayne did a great job with it, sure, but still, as Drago says, "Ain't nothin' I can do to hold a candle to Johnny Madrid. He can ride harder, draw faster, and talk sweeter than any other man ever born." Truer words were never spoken, because that's the way the writers wrote Johnny - to be a practically flawless rough Western hero - and James Stacy played the role all too well. No other man can ever live up to such a monumental "shadow".... and Scott (and Wayne) had to be reminded of that constantly during the filming of this episode. Has to be a little tough being reminded you're second banana even when you're the star of the story.

WM did well in this story. The writers did make it up to him in "Legacy." And The Escape" was a good one, too.

So . . . did Scott lose to Drago on purpose to make him feel less jealous? Did Scott wrestle Johnny to prove he is still the big brother? So many questions

I have been watching a lot of the episodes and you are correct and according to another comment I read on a different episode if there was to be a 3rd season Wayne was not coming back? because of the quality of the scripts and the fact that he wasn't getting his share? How true we may never know but I sure wish there was a third season. Maunder had a wonderful distinctive speaking voice

I'm not too keen on this episode, but the arm-wrestling between Johnny and Scott is a good way of portraying the love and comradeship that had developed between them.

43:28 --> Drago (Actor: Warren Oats ) an intense and well acted scene, not so common in a weekly. Really good Character Actors back in the Day, really good.

Another great episode ....but after all the people that breathe in the Ranch that they'd have locked the doors...but on Gunsmoke I only ever saw Hop Sing lock the door once. I'd have locked that Lancer mansion more !!!!
