Superb!! What a great, detailed video. My car has just gone into the garage for same job on a Mk7 Golf 2013 2.0 TDI. Years ago, I`d done a cambelt change myself, but now, I let someone else with tools, knowledge, time and confidence do it. Great to see the amount of work that goes into such, in essence, a simple job i.e. remove a belt and put it back on. So time consuming to replace a belt!! Thanks for the video. Much better than any channel on TV!!!

Successfully completed this yesterday, now I have a p2456 code. Reading up on this a lot of people have experienced this after a timing belt and water pump change. Some folks had a differential pressure sensor melt down. Oddly enough the sensor that melted, when I went to disconnect the hose to get it out of the way, it was already disconnected. Not sure what's going one here. Some replaced the sensor but then they had to like calibrate it or something with vcds which I don't have. Any advice?

Glad you got it done! ive never had that issue my self, the pressure switches are obviously near the belt, strange that you had one disconnected , its should have been throwing up a fault previously.. if you do replace it they are meant to be reset using a diagnostic machine , a cheap one wont do it either.. id reconnect everything a give it a good drive see if the fault clears, you really to to get it checked on a decent diagnostic machine to see what the sensors are reading

Good video but one mistake you need to losen the cam shaft pulley and fuel pump pulley so they move in their slots before puting tension on the belt. Turn them clock wise as far as they go in slots before fitting belt that way when tensioning they move left. The way you done it you are only tensioning one side of belt. How this makes sense

Perfect! Great video! Thank you very much! Made it much easier knowing what tools were needed and little pointers regarding the exhaust sensor and which way round to tension the belt. Replaced the timing belt and water pump on my wifes 2013 8V 2.0tdi A3. Only issue I ran into was after tensioning and turning the engine over manually after 4 turns of the crank the cam and fuel pump were half a tooth out of timing. So I took the belt off, repinned it at the timing marks and then put the belt on again, retensioned it again and manually turned over the engine again to test and everything stayed lined up. I must've put the belt on a tooth out somewhere on the first go. Anyway 10/10! Thanks for such a great, informative, clear video!

Thanks for the great how-to, made the job really easy for me 👍 I just put on a Gates kit. Tension adjuster broke even with finger tight nut. I see Gates claim it is user fault, and they have investigated the problem and the nut has to be held still while setting tension. In my opinion it is a crap part made out of some sort of cast material and not real steel. Since it is my own car i just used some pliers on the broken part instead of the hex tool.

Thanks for the video, this the by far the most detailed video of timing belt and water pump change I have ever seen in KZread. You even went through the plastic tray removal steps one by one as for dyi person even this part can be challenging sometimes. Also the bleeding as well. I believe if you removed the hose just front of the camshaft pulley, you might have a chance to not remove the locking pin.
