1st Gen Tundra Off Road Build Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a walkaround of my 1st Gen Toyota Tundra Overland Build. It's great for truck camping and overlanding, and this has to be one of the best vehicles for this kind of build. Thanks for watching.

    I love how you’ve modified the truck but still daily drive it. Many people go over board with huge lifts and heavy tires then end up selling it because it sucks to drive. Very tastefully done Tyler!

    So, I was looking into the old Nissan Pathfinders for an overland platform and came across your YT channel. I’m glad I did! I just purchased a 2005 Toyota Tundra DC 4WD with a topper and couldn’t me more happy about it. Thanks for all the useful information and inspiration Tyler!

    Hey Tyler, am in the Market for either a GX460 or 2015-2018 Tundra and after months of researching YT Algorithm somehow decided to introduce me to your SHORTS and after watching your full length videos am now looking at 1st Gen Tundra. These is what I LOVE LOVE LOVE about you: 1)You look healthy and fit and in shape. Bro, I don't know too many Americans that can Squat and no distented belly. Keep it up. 2)I Like your simple, minimalist and modest approach of overlandind/off-roading and camping. Things I Love about your Rig: 1)The Skinny tires very practical and equally efficient. 2)The Camper shell - I like the windows. 3)Billstein 500 shocks. 4)Bumper is cool. 5)I like how you kept everything All OEM Stock including the engine and height. One more thing, I owned a 2004 SEQUOIA before and at 220000 plus miles you will need to replace the Starter with OEM DENSO or Rebuild the existing one. The starter is located underneath the intake manifold and it's susceptible to heat. Oh, I hope you have changed the Differential fluid. Am truly impressed by your approach. That's what it's all about - Simplicity and Fun. Best of Luck and thanks for the great content. Malik Martin Atlanta, GA Cheers

    I have the icon add a leaf in my Double cab. It was part of the Stage 2 kit i put on. With the weight i have in it, i think i should have left the overloads on it. I ended up adding a rough country 1" lift block to it which helped. I think the overload and block would probably be right where i want it.

    Just purchased an 05 Access Cab. Getting caught up on some preventative maintenance then will start building it out asap. Probably going with the full OME suspension with the 2885's. Used camper shells are tuff to find in my area for these trucks.

    Apply some fluid film to the frame, I did it mine 06 Tundra in Alaska. It really stop rust. USAF use the stuff for fighter jets as well.

    What 5100/ OME combo would give about 3" of lift safely. When I say safely I mean not going beyond the travel limit of the 5100. I already have upgraded UCAs and it's a 2wd so no cv axles. Thanks and love the vidoes!

  • @208Tyler

    @208Tyler

    That depends partly on the cab size and engine weight of your truck. Most likely a 2887. I don’t know what you mean by “without going beyond the travel limit of the 5100” A 5100 limits it’s own travel. Thanks for watching! Glad you find the videos enjoyable

    Hey Tyler, with a small lift up front/ level like you have is it necessary to upgrade the sway bar end links like from TEQ customs? They're about $25 more than oem. Not sure if it's necessary for just being leveled.

  • @208Tyler

    @208Tyler

    10 ай бұрын

    It is not required. I’ve been fine without it. The sway bar is meant to encounter the full travel range of the vehicle’s front suspension, so if your coilovers are close to factory specs you’ll be totally fine

    1. That video was in Sedona 2. The radiator was on a friends truck 3. That video is a build overview, not an advertisement. The video is for people who want to see another tundra build, and what kind of work people do to their truck. I’m not gonna go around hating on what someone has on their truck. Never in that video did I ask or persuade people to buy the exact same parts, I was just providing information. And if he’s had good luck with the radiator, what’s the issue…?
