The second-to-last Thanksgiving game on CBS for Summerall and Madden. Jim Nantz was doing CBS NFL games with Hank Stram, while Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson were teenagers. Whenever CBS now airs an all-NFC game, it’s not really weird. CBS had the NFL-NFC rights from 1956-1993. Happy Thanksgiving!

And CBS wouldn’t cover the NFL again until 1998, this time with the AFC.

Jim Nantz has been with CBS since 1985. He has earned the top play by play spot after working that many years.

@@redmustangredmustang Jim was a colleague of John Madden for 9 years. Sadly, they never did a game together. Although I would love to see Tony Romo work with Ian Eagle, Kevin Harlan or Greg Gumbel someday, Nantz can call games with Romo for as long as he pleases. Like you said, he deserves it.
Forgot how brutal old school football was.

The funniest comment is when these announcers call Patrick Mahomes the Michael Jordan of the NFL. MJ took harder hits wearing shorts and a tank. Mahomes doesn’t even know why he’s wearing a bobble head helmet and pads. Fkn sad game now.
There’s nothing more exciting than to watch a rivalry game on thanksgiving
The 1992-2002 NFL on CBS theme is one of the greatest themes in Sports.

I couldn’t agree more.
Hard to believe that was the first time they played on Thanksgiving.
I will never forget this game for one reason, my dad and I watched this game till halftime. Then we had to leave the house to go to the UT/A&M game that night in Austin. It was cold that night!
I miss that stadium

Hard to believe this is the first Thanksgiving meeting between these teams. Offense got off to a slow start, but then was awesome. Defense was relentless for the entire game.
James Washington was a beast. Got hits autograph in 93. He had me sit in his passenger seat of his Mercedes. Cool guy
It amazes me how many of these plays would result in penalties today.
The old school NFL on CBS theme music
This game had a legendary intro with November Rain by Guns N Roses accompanying it.
We're probably going to see a few more of these Giants-Cowboys Thanksgiving matchups in the coming seasons. The NFL just reported that Thursday's game was the most watched NFL regular season telecast of all time by viewership totals. When both teams are good, Giants-Cowboys games are ratings gold.
It's a shame the channel cut the full intro to this game. Pat narrated a theme of the NFC East's chaning of the gaurd from Giants to Cowboys with "Sweet November Rain" playing.
You can hear the physicality on the blocks! They were hitting in the trenches
I love today’s game but I really really really miss this brand of NFL football 🏈

The current game offers up nothing of importance. It’s more of soap opera entertainment and political bullsh1t. I hear this years script is Harrison Butker kicks the game winning field goal in the Super Bowl. Travis Kelce then proposes marriage to Taylor Swift on the field after Patrick Mahomes wins another MVP. ZZZZZZ.
YT algorithm blessed me with this footage.
definitely that's hard to believe that's the first time they played on thanksgiving
1992 Dallas Cowboys Best Season Super Bowl Championship Thanks For Uploading
Happy Thanksgiving NFL Throwback 🏈
By this point the Giants of the old guard were depleted . LT had gone down with an Achilles tear in the Green Bay game. Phil Simms and Jeff Hostetler were out for the year. It was a team that just wasn't good. The Cowboys on the other hand had all the pieces in place for a championship run. That play at 0:30 was the last game for Stephen Baker's career. That drop killed his football career. The Cowboys destroyed a bad team that game.

@@chrisuncleahmad yep Dan Reeves got the Giants back into the playoffs. Played the Cowboys tough in the last game even though they lost they went 11-5. Got a wildcard win, but sadly the 49ers stomped the Giants out in LT and Simms last game. Ricky running Watters ran for 5 touchdowns. It may have been short yardage ones, but they still count.
As a BRONCOS fan it's weird seeing ed mccafery wearing a different number and Jersey.

One question: Why is it that there’s more Eagles/Cowboys and Washington/Cowboys matchups on Thanksgiving than NY Giants/Cowboys matchups?

Primetime networks covet the Giants more than Washington
Man offenses have advanced with rpo jet sweep motion play action misdirection and motion. Imagine if dallas added that to there offense.
Is going to be a good game go cowboys

When the Giants and Cowboys are both good, they usually split. The Cowboys have owned a bunch of bad Giants teams gimme a break
Why would this game be of any importance to anyone lol the Giants were a bad team with no qb and the game was uncompetitive
I bet playing on that bs turf was horrible lol the NFL is still the same 30 years later still playing on turf not natural grass.
Hahahaha the horn going off just as he goes for the field goal is classic rogue!!!
At the 8:22 mark - A Thanksgiving special memory took place - No one will really know unless you were there but if you were and if you have been told about this, THIS is where, Uncle Jimmy, in another room, away from everyone, shouted the famous Thanksgiving saying....My N is faster than your N.... haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and a Thanksgiving saying of all time was born....
