The late 90's Bandit's are *bad ass*. They sound awesome and are nothing but power from 2000 to about 8500rpm. He's right too, they'll easily cruise 100mph all day long. Maybe 110. I've seen some for sale with over 50k miles. With a little tune up work you can get 130 hp or more out of them. Like mine. One of the all time great bikes.

I just had my gsf 1200 n on a testbench this weekend, at a bikemeet in northern jutland. It is build with 98 hp and about 235 km/h All I have done to it is changing the muffler to a more open model 🤗 And the readings from the test is 126 hp 290km/h at the top 😄 The guy who tested it was an allover big smile on his face, when he told me it could ve even stronger with the right ajustment 😄😄 I am never going to pull that kind of speed, since only a small stone on the road can make a heck of a mess 😄

I just bought a 2001 1200 Bandit S. One owner bought it from the dealer had the dealer put a full 2 brothers exhaust with a carbon fiber can K n N filters and a rejet. The owner traded it in on a car.21 years later. Car dealer threw it up on a thumb nail under cars and trucks on C/L.So no gear heads saw it. Had 2033 miles on it inside it's whole life. Man it's fast. As of today it has 2700 and change. I payed 3999. 4600 with tax. It's sliver. 0 gravity windshield.too. I love it I glad to be it's new owner.

Ken you seem to always find the Gems!!!!I’ve ridden one of these when my friend owned one. It was a breath of fresh air compared to my GSXR. The seating position and bar set up makes any long trip a breeze. The motor is a locomotive and just pulls and pulls.

98bhp 72lbs of torque at 3,500 rpm standard from factory. 211 kg dry weight 140mph std. I had a blue one 1997 unfaired. Went like a missile. Huge torque low down & loads of leg room. A fab bike even by todays standards. Value $3,200 for a fairly good one with 35,000km on clock.

Gorgeous bike and great review. A real survivor first gen Bandit S that looks the best in my opinion, I also love naked Bandits with no fairing. It has closer to 100-105hp but Tons of torque for sport-touring and everyday street riding which make a lot more sense than very high revving engine with weak low-mid range power. This bike only needs a new owner/rider and nice exhaust. I would get a Racefit Growler pipe for this one, it would look and sound absolutely insane.

I learned how to drive motorcycles on that heavy thing. I always told my friends there is no other feeling like the powerband on that bike. It pulls like a freight train! To this day i can’t find another way to describe it. I miss it every day. Sadly the motor blew on me going 120+. Didn’t have the money to fix it and had to make ends meet. @Dark Lord Fuzzybutt I have two Bandits (N&S) and one ZRX. I'd say it's the other way round. The ZRX is equipped with pricier components from the start. Much better brakes to. The Bandit has an amazing pull from 2000-6500 that the ZRX doesn't have. I personally enjoy the Bandit's lower weight and quicker steering, but it needs proper forks, rear shock and brakes in my opinion. The ZRX has a sportier seat/foot pegs and handle bars. Rear sets and a lower handle bar on the bandit wouldn't hurt either.

At the time I had 3 bikes. The Bandit was the nicest which brought in the most money which is why I sold it. Maybe it's time to look for another one.

Had exactly that bike. My experience is they did run lean off the throttle and if you didn't give it enough beans on take off it would pull away then stall - did that once and it through me up and off. My solution was to gear it down but interesting to hear about the mods on the carbs. I'm looking for a naked one now!

I've owned a '98 for 16 years. Mine has 172,000 miles on it, and yes, I've rebuilt it. As a Suzuki tech, I am an expert on this model. STOCK- it makes 98 horsepower and 72 lbs of torque. The stock shock is CRAP, and needs replacing, The Mikuni carbs are excellent, but need better jetting. This bike is Clark Kent, waiting to get out of the phone booth and become Superman. Mine has JE 1216cc pistons, some light headwork, Ivan carb needles.. and make 120 hp and 83 lbs of torque ON THE DYNO, not some bullshit claim. This bike can do anything.. but you need to do proper mods.

@@brunohozmec3343 Hello Croatia! First, make sure that you are using the original air box and a new air filter (ONLY Suzuki brand!). If you still have a problem, you must make sure your carburetors are CLEAN inside. These bikes are famous for getting dirty carburetors, especially if the bike has been sitting for a long time. This will require the carb bank to be removed and the bottom float bowls removed so that the jets can be removed and carefully cleaned. 90% of the time this will fix your problems. Check your spark plugs to see if they are all EVENLY TAN color. BUY A SHOP MANUAL! Good luck!

ALWAYS start with Mechanical... next Electrical (do you have SPARK at each plug? Are they all the same COLOR?) Then lastly, make sure your carburetors are cleaned and set properly. BUY... A...SHOP... Same time on the same dyno a first gen R1 made 127 hp , only 5 more at the peak . Bandit made more from bottom through the midrange .

I just picked up the same bike but a 99 with 6,500 miles for $500. What a find!

It's not a matter of law, it's about protecting your own skull. I don't think it's forbidden to use an item that guarantees your own protection. I don't care, it's your problem whether you want to die or not, but I've seen many motorcycle accidents, and in 99% of cases the cause of death is: skull injury!

It is very irresponsible to ride a motorcycle without a crash helmet! You will feel this when your skull is fractured and you become a cripple, then you will regret it very much!🤔
