1998 RetroSkins Highlights: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Washington Redskins
Well folks, this one seems appropriate for the moment. In celebration of The Sale, let’s go back to 1998 and enjoy the last Redskins victory before you-know-who bought the team and started himself down the road to becoming The Most Hated Man in Washington (and there is plenty of competition in that town!)
The ’98 Redskins were a comeback story. A 6-10 finish may not sound great, ok it wasn’t great, but after an 0-7 start, it was a tad respectable. The Bucs were also a tad respectable, 7-7 going into this game and needing a win to hang in the playoff race. Thanks to some inspired defense and a late interception by The Most Loved Man in Washington, the 'Skins held on for one last win for the season.
This was the day the Republican Party proved totally unworthy to govern - seriously, who holds an impeachment vote during the game, guys?!? This was also the day poor Norv final got that monkey off his back and beat the Buccaneers (Turner was 0-4 against TB to this point and finished 2-5 against the Bucs overall….sigh). And finally, this was the Skins' first game against TB minus those, uh …fabulous creamsicle uniforms.

I just noticed something unusual. Did the Redskins have multiple uniform suppliers that year? Conway is wearing a Wilson jersey. While Alexander is wearing Starter.
I need to find both games against the Cardinals from this year.

I was at this game so I am just finding out now that the first part was preempted on TV.

Oh no! Not this game! As a Bucs fan, I detest this one. But I should say that this game was nationally televised and was on a Saturday and the game was interrupted with the Clinton Impeachment and so I called the local FOX station and started cussing and swearing about Cigar Bill. Oh, the memories of being a Bucs fan.....(it mainly sucks). That said, the GOP were stupid to have set up their vote that day during a Redskins game but they also should have mustered up the balls to kick Cigar Bill out well before then. Neither of them are fit to govern - which sounds like D.C. today. Neither side are fit to govern and both sides are too rife with old boomers.
