Just got my 1995 rm 250 back off a friend after 15 years of it sat in a sorry state , done a few restos over the years I’m sat here after knee surgery watching all these videos as inspiration. Nice job I can’t wait to get started on the old RM.

I've been wanting to build my own bike but within a budget. How much did the bill come out to with everything? And the bike looks sick man and crazy fast and I like how you did everything right and not half assing anything.

Well I wasn't expecting it to cost as much as it did but when I had the engine apart I though it was best to do all bearings so what started out to be a quick piston change and engine inspection became what you see above. I guess the only part that I really shouldn't have bought was the new carb but since I didn't know if the bike even ran before I owned it I wanted to make sure it ran well

I got a KEIHIN 38mm PWK Airstriker from the guys at JDJetting.com They jet it and get it setup for you. I think from memory its the same carb thats on the 99 bike onwards. It worked perfectly!

Jason Fox get yourself a Haynes manual and take your time. It's a 2 stroke so fairly easy to work on and a great starting place to learn

Marty Cochrane one quick question please as im not n expert on bikes but the kickstart is different to other bikes iv started, im wondering if this is compression issue or kickstart or is this normal?....... when kicking down the kickstart have the biting point but then feel like its slipping. If i use my hand hard enough pushing down slowly when it goes soft i can still hear the air pushing in the cylinder witch makes me think that the kickstart ratchet pinion is conecting ok but the. Makes me think isit compression? Or isit just how these 250s are? Im guessing thats how they are and bave to find the rite point of compression before kicking? Or am i wrong? Sorry for the long message but cant find anything on this thanks

Jason Fox to be honest it's 2 years since I last started one of these so I can't honestly remember exactly how it felt but I do remember thinking on my first few tries that it field different and I was worried I'd built it wrong
