1997 Toyota 4Runner O2 Sensors Upstream & Downstream Replacement How-To

This video will show you how to replace the upstream and downstream O2 Oxygen sensors on the third generation 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner. This was done on a 2.7L rear wheel drive model but should be similar for the 4wd model as well. The two codes it was showing was P0130 and P0133. Sensors were purchased from Amazon and I will provide links below.

Looks so easy. I did this, pb blastered and broke the threaded rod the the nut was attached to. I wish it went this easy. Great video, however sometimes reality is a bitch

If something is really stuck I will alternate between blaster and hear with a small propane torch. I did my upstream the other day and had to remove them with vice grips. I was worried that the stud would break also.
My upstream bolts look melted on. Gonna leave some PB Blaster on overnight but I don't know if that'll help.
Does the 2002 4Runner have 2 -02 sensors andc2 Air fuel sensors?
That downstream sensor should work for a 2000 RWD, right? I keep running into notices saying that part won't fit and I'm confused since we both have 3rd Gen 2WD.
Could bad o2 sensor cause misfires? I have a p0300 p0301 p0303. New to this truck.

Do you know when the spark plugs or wires were replaced last?
I got code P0130 on my 1996 Toyota 4Runner SR5. Its a 3.4 V6 2WD. is this code the upstream or downstream sensor??

You will want these for your 2001 4Runner downstream amzn.to/3PYzHJI and the upstream amzn.to/46Xl28x this one is pretty pricey.

My bolts holding the sensors are rounded off from previous owners… do you know the part number to them.

Do these model numbers work on a 3.4L engine as well?

No they will be different. They also differ weather yours is a 4wd or 2wd
