I Miss these Packer teams of the 90s, we seemed unstoppable back then and going into a game as a fan we had confidence knowing the Pack would handle business. This was the last year that we would dominate the 9ers in the playoffs (3yrs in a row). The year after we would face this same team in SF and a last min TO catch for the win, would end our reign in this decade and we were never the same after that. Fast forward to present day and it looks like the 9ers have gotten their Vengeance on us and then some.......how the tables have turned!

Yeah but it doesn't hit the same we could never beat that Packers team. Completely different players and different eras. For whatever reason that niners just could not match up well with the 90s Packers. My lean is towards coaching and just slightly better players in key positions that neutralized any advantage 49ers had. We had throttled the broncos earlier that year and feel we could have beaten them 😂. Sometimes football can be a little bit like boxing styles make fights and they could never figure out the packers. That last game was controversial don't really count it.

In the 90s we were owned by Dallas but destroyed the 49ers. Essentially ending their run at another dynasty. Now it’s flipped, we own Dallas but can’t get passed the 49ers. The good news is, the 49ers or the Cowboys can’t do anything either. So it’s a partial win.

This is definitely the best packer team that never one a super bowl and it is not even close . They got real cocky vs Denver who I think were 14 point dogs and Denver deserves all the credit in the world. But for Younger packer fans who think 2014 04 2021 or 2022 were bad this 1997 team makes them all look bad believe me they were as dominant in all three phases as a team could be.

This was one of those "not as close as the score" games - the Packers were dominant. Only some good redzone D by the 49ers kept this from being 31-3 instead of 23-10. There was no point where it felt like San Francisco was actually in it.

What I find interesting is that stylistically, the Packers were a much better matchup for Denver than San Francisco. I honestly think San Francisco whoops Denver in the Super Bowl if they had played. But much like 1995 with Dallas, Green Bay took 'em out before they had their chance.

Not having Garrison Hearst at full strength made Young have to throw too much in this game. Not having Jerry Rice was also problematic from an offensive standpoint. No one could cover or tackle Antonio Freeman (who not so elegantly labeled the 49ers “The Sunshine Boys”), making a dig at them as being a soft team. The ‘97 Niners team overachieved on defense, but just like the two years prior, faltered down the stretch.

Denver was door matted in every sb they ever played in and that game seemed like a foregone conclusion. Terrell Davis and Denvers great oline manhandled the pack and made the GB defense literally quit.

I remember watching this as a die hard Niners fan back in the day. I was so depressed that the Niners just could not beat the Packers (even in the regular season too). Fast forward to Harbaugh. The Packers could never beat Kaepernick and Harbaugh. Fast forward to Shanahan and Jimmy G. The Packers could not beat Shanahan (they did in the regular season game at Levi’s, but not in the postseason). It’s interesting how sports ebbs and flows throughout the years. I expect the Packers to have the Niners number in the future (we don’t know when though lol).

This season the 49ers would probably beat everyone except this Packers team. They were our kryptonite for a few years there. Although that year felt like the 94 season again it was a little damping with the teams the Niners played that year. Also Jerry Rice was hurt so to win the championship that year would be bitter sweet. What I can say is that 49ers team was a bit overrated and the Packers showed that.
