Please don't ever take down this video. I have been coming back to it every few years for so long now. The music is oddly fitting, and your shot selection for the highlights are pretty much perfect. You may find this weird, but this video has been a source of inspiration in my life. This epic match was not only about 9 - ball. It was a reminder of how the game should and should not be played as well as a testament to mental strength & a never-say-die attitude. This reel is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest matches ever played, won by the greatest of all time. Thank you again

This is not weird at all. I feel the same. It's special on so many levels, and having lived and breathed the nightlife of HK for 22 years and had the most memorable experiences of my life in SE Asia, it's extra special.

Greatest pool video of all time. I love it. This makes me jump up and run into my pool room and play for hours. The music is great as well. I love it. They are truely out-of-time, and watching it is like a dream, as their skill is so amazing. The song fits perfectly.

By the way, very nice video. I especially liked the part where you did the newspaper thing at the beginning and then went to the black and white close-up of a young Earl and Efren, really nice. They were young, slim and handsome there, if only we could all stop time when we're in our prime like that, and stay that way forever. But I guess that's life for ya.

on the contrary, i like the accompanying music, all 4 of them. i never get sick of watching these videos again and again...really respect these two legends...they played as if it's the end of the world. they really put in a lot of effort to make it a beautiful game. although the scoreline was 120-117 in the end, to me both have won.

there is a reason why these guys are on tv, are we aren't. For those of you who say they've done these shots, thats because you have no real competition like the pros, and no pressure. you wouldn't hack it in a pro tourney. I ran 5 racks in a row on my table, but i got smoked in a pro tourney. great vid. they are there for a reason.

In my opinion , the greates pool players in that time head to head. - creative shots that i haven´t seen beforte. - %98 cueball control (%100 = machines) - both historic legends and with top tittles in the world ( Strickland 6 times US open 9-ball champion). Pool players must play lots of tables on each feature match because you can not say that one player is better than otherone by winning 2-3 , but even playing race to 120, no one can say whos the best here cause the difference is not enougth

great stuff, great seeing these guys play at their best. times have shifted now though phillipines thai etc still producing top players america is struggling with SVB leading the charge its pretty slim, the europeans are now starting to dominate. especially the influx of former snooker players convertin to pool its very troubling for the other pool players that skill combined with few years of pool circuit playin makes them formiddable opponents

can't remember it exactly as is was more than 10 years ago, i think i remember that Reyes somehow was trailing far away behind Earl 'till Reyes rallied the third day with at least 20 games straight wins that made Earl destroyed his concentration and eventually Reyes ended up the winner. A classic if you ask me.

I agree w/slickrick4ever. Efren plays all pool games and is great at all of them. I don't think there has ever been a better all around player than Efren. He even has a gold medal in snooker and plays 3 cushion very well. Hey 9ballalex no offense but....look up Efren's videos. I remember Loree Jon Jones said of Efren Reyes: "I've seen him do things on the pool table that you can't do." It was during his IPT 8 ball match against Mike Sigel who he beat 8-0 and 8-5 in a best of 3 races to 8.

@9ballalex I agree on your post. If the race was to 35 strickland wins. If to 50 strickland wins. if to 75 strickland wins. If to 100 strickland wins by 20 games. This was such a disappointment when he fell apart at the end. and even if they went to 130 the game is up in the air. They both have their pros and cons about their game. I think Talent wise strickland is better and Efren is a more mentally strong controls the ball a little better. Definitely my 2 favorite players to watch.

Efren was behind 87-104 one time. What really sucks about this for Earl was it was a race to 100 when it was proposed. Then it became a race to 120. Also the winner got $75K and the loser got $25K. Efren I believe won like 10 of 11 games one time to get closer and Earl lost his composure. Sadly the promoter of this classic, Bob Moore, died a year later .

I'm not sure the first song is french it sounds more like some type of asian and kind of gives a good feel for where the match is taking place, i didn't think the first song was half bad. The pictures were great also especially the one with both earl and effren. Earl's best game is definitely 9 ball and probably had more success at the game than efren has throughout the years. Efren is probably the better all around player but these two are probably in the top 5 players of the last half century.

Yea, but did you ever think that back then "WORLD" was not WORLD because 1)it all consisted of (mostly) American players instead of the other power houses such as Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), the Europeans, and the Pinoys; 2) The pockets back then were buckets comparing to what they are now: sharp and small enough to miss; and 3)It's 9-ball... seriously, you don't need much to do: smash the break (and make sure you can pot at least 3 balls) and connect the dots from there.

Now, let's go to Efren's case: 1)Been no. 1 in One-Pocket; 2) Plays Rotation (as all Pinoys do)-- which is shitloads harder than 9-ball; 3)and last but not least, has played other forms of billiards such as snooker (one time!) and carom games such as Balkline and 3-cushion. Being a 5-time "world" champion doesn't mean shit anymore for Earl. In fact, I know Shane Van Boening will have a fair shot in beating that shit--especially with the equiptment not at days. I'd root for him than Earl anyday.

Before you post something like this, research him a little bit more before you put something obscurd as Efren having 9-ball in his speciality. I can give you a lecture and all, but I find it more fun if you go on and apply more research on him. BTW, Earl isn't so "great" in One-Pocket you know. He's good... but he's not as great as Bata.
