1996 PBA Rochester Open - Duke vs. Schlegel (Part 2)

Спорт

Ernie Schlegel was up to his old tricks in the opening match of the 1996 Rochester Open, where he faced PBA star Norm Duke. Who would win..."fruit salad" or Duuuuuuuuuke? Very entertaining match with two entertaining players. Part 2 of 2.

Wish Norm would’ve run around like a maniac after Ernie split. Fair play to Randy prior year. Classless but strong competitor

I hated when Schegel bowled. Before the shot clock, he would take a ridiculous amount of time to roll the ball. I don't know if its true but, I heard Schegel was the reason that they came up with the shot clock. They would run out of televised time when he bowled.

He also had bed eyesight. Hard to focus and stay there. Shot clock was a farce. They would bowl through commercial to keep up.

Typical response from a Schlegel fan.Rude, profane, and we look at the facts every time that he bowls. I don't care what he does on his off time. You confuse flamboyancy with outright rudeness. I bet that you are a big Belmonte fan.

It almost looked like Duke was trying to stifle the crowd when they begin chanting "duuuuuke" after his victory.

He was trying to silence the crowd; classy act on his part. Norm knows it wasn't so much that he won the match....he knows it was more like Ernie lost it. Norm didn't want the crowd rubbing it in.

yeah, ernie was the creator of the bowling balls you all use now... basically reactive resin balls are not fully cured plastic/rubber balls that they used in the past... he's the reason every untalented piece of crap thinks they can shoot 220 everywhere they go, and if they don't, they go somewhere else, which is why there's hardly any real competition in bowling anymore, because people don't like to think they suck as bad as they really do when on a tough lane condition. That's why I quit.

It's a valid point. There was a time when carrying a 190+ average in two different houses meant something. The bowling industry got desperate and went for the money grab with 250 dollar balls and high scores, and it didn't work. With today's equipment, house hacks who wouldn't dare bowl on a PBA shot can carry a 230 average.

@Play Disc Golf That's what my leagues do. And I have a 195 average through 3 leagues. It's tough; but that's what makes it fun. I won't bowl in leagues that use a simple house shot; where sandbaggers and 240+ averages rule because there's no skill to a house shot
