Such a beautiful skating pair. I'd loved watching them skate. Remembering Sergei always ❤

I remember when this happened. They were already my favorite pairs, I even rooted for them at the Olympics, against our own US team! For me, they had a magic that I just haven't seen duplicated! Her book, My Sergei, was both wonderful and sad. It just leaves you heartbroken, thinking of all that magic disappearing! They will always remain special! ❤💔

Heartbreaking beyond words. 💔 I'm so grateful we have pictures of Sergei, KZread videos of their skating, and Katia's book, "My Sergei." Young people who didn't know him can learn about him.

So very sad! Hurts to see them then and it hurts to see her today without him! When I see her I think of him always! She has remarried twice and still when I see her I think of Sergei. Poor Sergei deserved to have a long life- such a down to earth person! Such a handsome man, every woman should have a Sergei in her life!!! 😢

It was truly a dark day. An immeasurable loss for figure skating and the world. Next year, it will be 30 years. No one who loved skating then will forget that day, reading that headline, or Katia & Sergey. They are legends forever, still unmatched.

I remember seeing this interview as it was yesterday. I watched Gordeeva and Grinkov for years. Their speed and technique were so perfect. Their blades were so quiet. Their programmes so beautiful and elegant, always looking at each others eyes. They were so admired and loved. We all felt the loss in those days and months. And in gorgeous Daria, a piece of Sergei remains. I see her now and I see Sergei in her smile. It still seems like yesterday but it's been 27 years already.

They had to be in Love, to skat like they skated..it would have been impossible otherwise. He was such a beautiful man, there will never be another like him. To her, he was her First everything in everyway❤.

So shocked when the news was released to the media that he had died. Skating fans were totally stunned that a man in his prime would be taken down so quickly by sudden heart problems. Saw Ekaterina at one of her first solo appearances. It was bittersweet to watch her skate solo.

@@tarolyatarolya1230 I keep thinking I've seen all the ugliness in the world and then I see a comment like yours from such a disgusting pathetic person. It's funny how most of you gossiping about Katia act like you know more about Sergei than she does. You have to come down to earth, you didn't know Sergei or her, so don't talk nonsense. You didn't live with them when Sergei was alive, nor after he died, so don't spread misinformation about people you don't even know.

Katia has such stunning facial features. Delicate and perfectly symmetrical which is very typical for russian and ukranian women. Im not a fan of twilight but sergei and katia remind me of edward and bella... Maybe its their height difference and physical attributes. Sergei was definitely stunning though. He didnt have the typical slavic face that many russian and ukranian men have. Putin have that slavic face. For reference, i studied and lived in crimea ukraine for 7 years.
