Take the next step in power mods without going with a forced-induction setup with these Comp Cams Stage III Xtreme Energy Camshafts! These camshafts will give your Pony great mid-range power gains in horsepower and torque and are best suited for Mustangs with Performance Improvement Heads. www.americanmuscle.com/mustang...
Advanced Performance Modification. The Comp Cams 3 Xtreme Energy camshafts are for 1994-2004 Ford Mustang GTs. These camshafts are designed to replace the factory camshafts for noticeable mid-range horsepower and torque gains, as well as a nice lope at idle, which will give your Mustang that overall sound and feel of a modern day muscle car. It’s important to note that Comp Cam also suggests pairing these camshafts with adjustable cam gears, Comp Cam valve springs and retainers to support the bigger and heaver cams. In addition, these cams are designed for modified Mustangs that are currently running a cold air intake and aftermarket cat back exhaust, for the optimal level of performance gains, which is estimated to be an increase of 40hp and 30-40ft.-lbs. of torque. With all that said, these stage 3 camshafts are on the brink of street use, going into a stage 4 camshaft would definitely take things into a purely track use vehicle.
Durable Construction. The Comp Cams stage 3 camshafts are made of steel and designed for SOHC Mustangs with 3.55+ gears. They have an RPM range of 1800 to 5800 and have a lobe separation of 113-degrees for a great lope idle sound.
Professional Level Installation. The installation of these camshafts will require the experience of a professional mechanic as it involves the removal of the intake manifold, valve covers, crankshaft and spark plugs, it’s basically an engine tear down and will probably require a full days worth of labor charges, if you elect to take it to a professional.

Installed these on my 2000 Saleen and the lope is fine but I wouldn’t go as far as being the limit for street drivability. Prob could have gone with a higher stage. Know there for forced induction applications there are cams designed specifically for that. I found this out a bit too late but my Saleen runs just fine with these.

He gives the wrong specs for the cam at 4:30. He states that the duration at 0.050" lift is 270 & 274. That is the ADVERTISED duration. The duration at 0:050" is actually 234 int./238 exh. according to summit racing. According to some stuff I found on the internet, the stock pi cams have a duration at 0.050" of 184 int/.196 exh. But I don't know it that's accurate.

Comp Cams ...lol ... their machining was off which they acknowledged over the phone then twenty minutes later called back and said their engineer was wrong. The machining was fine. Btw ... their original version of adjustable gears caused problems with the cam sensor picking up a signal from the lock down screws. Caused a P0340.

If you want to get technical any cam is going to work but that doesn't mean it's the right choice because you won't get the most out of it. Lots of valve overlap is okay on an NA application but if you are running boost you don't want to have as much as it's going to kill your manifold pressure. That's not to say it won't work but it's not ideal. Your best bet would be to get a cam that is built for boosted applications. You'll still have that lope if that is something you are looking for but it won't be as pronounced as compared to an NA cam that can get away with more overlap and duration.

There are a lot more thing that you have to upgrade when boosting a car, depending on how much power it add you may need better rods, transmission upgrade, etc. You could cut out most of the labor cost if you're handy but you would still need to get it dyno tuned. Also if you live in a small city like I do it's hard even finding a shop with a dyno.

It entirely depends on how hard the engine was run, how old the parts are in it, and what condition they are in. It's better to be safe than sorry if they've been in there for a while. Changing that stuff out isn't too difficult. I would do everything all at once and give yourself a healthy amount of time to do it if you are going to do it yourself. I can't stress how important it is not to rush. If there's any doubt on your behalf do yourself a favor and let a shop do it.

I agree I bought a set of SR coilovers one of the studs broke and was informed that is was from abuse I drove by some train tracks not even fast like 20 or 30 the rep was nice but on those coilovers on the comments some else said their stud broke and they got another coilover I had to replace the complete set up and even buy another set of caster camber plates in other words I'm going to LMR next time
