In this video, we put the GTX on the water hose. While doing that we hear an Exhaust leak noise, we find an exhaust leak noise is coming from between the exhaust manifold and the pipe on a Seadoo GTX. So we take off exhaust system to repair it. We use new gaskets and some RTV to fix the leak. While the pipe is off and out of the way we install the new kill switch. This is a great example of how to fix a simple exhaust leak noise on a ski, and it's easy to do!

I'm so glad you found us and find the videos helpful. We do have some more Seadoo content coming. I'm gonna pull the motor out of a 1995 GTX, and we have a Seadoo boat we're gonna fix up. Gotta get this Mustang we're working on running right now.

I’ve got a whole playlist with all the videos of me restoring that ski. Hopefully you’ll find some other helpful stuff. I appreciate you watching, and taking the time to comment and share with me. Give me a shout if you run into question on that ski. I’ve restored a few skis, but two of that exact one.

Love the "Count von Count" impression while pulling the exhaust manifold screws.

Ski is coming along nice. I have the same year and model. We have had lots of fun with it, yet I have spent plenty of time wrenching on it. If the short threaded exhaust bolt gives you trouble, lock tite a stainless stud into the hole before assembly, then put a nut on it. I had problems with that. Also make sure all the rubber cushions between pipe are in good shape or vibration will sheer the bolts off. Been there.

That’s all great advice!! I love these skis. My other one has that stud. I considered getting one for this one. I replaced those bushings on my other 95. These appeared to still maybe have some life. Next video we work on the appearance. I almost have it ready. Thanks so much for watching. 🙌😎

On the motor there is a gasket also. I know from wrenching there’s usually one gasket on these exhaust systems however do jet ski’s have two gaskets? I see the one on the head appears to be warm and will have to remove it. I have the same one u have. Also referencing your tools, I have tools from Harbor Freight over the years and by taking care of them I’ve managed to save so much money by just cleaning and taking care of them. So as you said, take care of them, they will take care of you is exactly right!!

Having a water intrusion in 657 cylinders… running in the water.. not a trailer and hose issue.. New head and o ring seals.. Can it be anything else other than cracked cylinders??

Double check your orings if you haven’t already. You probably have. I don’t know all the possible culprits, but sounds like there maybe a problem with the cylinder. Let me know what you do figure out. Thanks for watching.

Don’t you need to plug the incoming line (with a hose pincher) to keep the water from going back out the pump? My GTS requires that.

Thanks for watching Luis. I haven't heard of pinching a line when flushing on the hose. I do know if your getting towed in your suppose to pinch a line to keep from filling motor with water while being towed. I'll have to go through the service manual and double check for what you're talking about. Thanks for commenting!!

DUDE!!! I NEVER noticed that. The service manual totally says to pinch off the hose going from head to pump!! I'm gonna flush both my skis TODAY!! I'll be giving you a shout out for this. Stuff like this is why I love the KZread wrenching community. 🙌

Did you figure out why you were not getting good water flow?

I found no restrictions in the water lines. I’m gonna get the jet pump in the water when we water test and see.

I’m working on the same ski with my son. He bought a pair recently with one having a blown engine that he got for free with the purchase. When I pulled the head off the cylinders of the blown engine, I found both the head and cylinders were packed with sand and salt buildup and probably had little to no water flow. Replaced both pistons and I’m in the process of putting the top end back together now and hope to have her running this week. I like the statement about your socket set. I have the very first craftsman socket set that I purchased in probably 94 and have every piece that goes with it. My boys get tired of me telling them all the time how many of the tools that I’ve acquired over the years are older than them because I take care of them.
