1995 Porsche 993 Speedster: Unicorn Conversion

Porsche only built one official Speedster variant of the last air-cooled 911 (the 993), and that car was constructed for none other than Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche. Later on, Jerry Seinfeld would send his 993 Cab to the factory and pay an untold but obviously lofty sum to have it converted. A few third party workshops made their own conversions over the years, but in other words, the 993 Speedster barely exists, and was never sold to the public from Porsche.
But for Karen and her husband Jäger, both avid 993 fans, it was a shape too captivating to forget. So, they bought a 993 Cab that already had a few 964 Speedster pieces fitted, did a bunch of research over the course of a few years and few trips around the world, and got to work. With the help of John Fogg, the car that emerged on the other end of their Speedster quest lives up to the one that had taken up residence in their dreams, and they’ve been enjoying the unique P-car ever since.

That is one fine conversion!! Well done! The attention to detail is stunning. Looks totally "factory". I remember seeing one of the first 964 Speedsters, in white, at Vasek Polak's in 1989(?), fell in love. A French model car company issued a 1/43 scale model in resin around that time and I bought a dozen of them...sold them through the shop. Saw Seinfeld's conversion at a Rodeo Drive car show and it was spectacular.

I'm not really a fan of speedsters or convertibles for that matter, but the owners knowledge and passion about this car (plus the film quality) changes all of that. The work they put into is was really cool to hear about, thanks for sharing!
I may not like Porsches as much as other German cars, but i can see that a lot of work and thought went into this one. And that, i can appreciate. Excellent piece.

People complaining about the looks and exhaust but they dont even realize the beauty of this car. Ofcourse for some pople think its ugly because they only care for style and modern looking cars but this 911 right here is a piece of art that should be driven evryday and appreciated :))

WOW that reminds me of the Classic 356 Speedster. My dad backed a 356 roadracer car back in early 60s. This car has the soul of the 356.

Man, I just shot a bunch of footage at redrock, drone and driving stuff. Gave me some good ideas as well, for future shots. Fremont has some great style these days...come a long way.

As always amazing video. Car looks great. I really try to always have positive comments but that has to be one of the worst exhaust sounds I've heard in awhile.

Absolutely gorgeous ride, super cool owner! driving around that thing in downtown Vegas must feel so awesome - especially if people turns their heads and recognize it for what it is! I know I'd break my neck doing a double take and going "holy shit a 993 convertible?!"
