For anyone that watches this now I was there and he didn't mean to hit that jump like that his throttle stuck. That was straight from him when asked why he hit it like that. I have met Doug on many occasions and he is one of the most down to earth people you could ever meet!!

It wouldn't let me edit it after it posted but it was supposed to say... that it seemed like his throttle stuck as he pulled himself back up on the bike as his feet came off the pegs when he landed the jump before this one. Idk how it got deleted but my phone does that sometimes and I didn't proofread it before I sent it. Lol... Sorry about that.

I was 7/8 years old at the time. My first race. I remember it happening. I just happened to look over at the time. It was like watching it in slow motion. I'll never forget.

how could he recover from that? truly an inspiration. I love riding but suffered an injury similar to his. 2 compressed vertebraes, more than a year and still hurting. I still ride though.... that wont stop me from getting on my bike. Braaaaap!!!!

Webb’s crash was brutal, but the worst back injury I’ve ever seen was when Doug Henry landed flat from about 50 feet high at Budd’s Creek back in 1995.

he is ok...paralyzed from the waist down (not as a reult of this crash) and still rides motocross with a roll cage, strapped down to the bike. the reality is, he will still outrun anyone commenting on this video, paralyzed from the waist down.

Two bad that Camera guy that was shooting from the lower part of the hill didn't catch the entire flight path of Henry as He was orbiting Earth.

Its funny how everywhere you look on the internet, everyone say "I was there". Must have been about 3 million people at that race and witnessed this.

they say you can still see the masive impact of henrys balls of steal on the landing

i was there that video doesnt even come close to showing how high in the air he was...

I was standing 20 ft from where he landed, he got up staggered over to us saying, I can’t lift my arms, take my helmet off…. Then all hell broke loose

That was a couple years after this incident, same track same spot but different crash.

I was only six years old, but I was there and remember it like yesterday. Easily the gnarliest crash I've ever seen!

I was at this race sitting across from Cooper Hill, and the one a year later when Doug broke both of his arms. His throttle stuck in the air on the double before Cooper Hill. He cased the landing with the throttle pinned and launched over the telephone wire that crosses the jump. The man broke his back, both arms and then came back to win the whole shebang once he was healed up. His sack drags the ground sparking behind him, that's how big his balls are.

I swear, I have nightmares that this is happening, I always wake up right as I'm about to land though, thank God.

Pretty Jay Hey! I grew up racing until my parents divorced but unto this day my very best dreams are motocross dreams. Usually my motocross dreams starts out me jumping way too high and landing way too hard but after that then I'll know I'm dreaming, and then it's full throttle all the way until I wake up. I love my motocross dreams!

@BongSabre you forgot to mention that he came back to win on a 4 STROKE... before they were even accepted

I thought I heard Doug say in interviews that he brain farted. But, by the looks of it, it looks more like a whiskey-throttle. Regardless, Doug's definitely one of the biggest hearts in any sport.

This didn't paralyze him like many are saying. He actually won this race 2 yrs. later.

Doug would have gone into orbit if it weren't for his enormous bag bringing him back to earth.

When I hit a jump I always remember to hold my farts. This is probably what happened but he was to embarrassed to admit it.

Seth went 300 sone foot and flattened front rim in sand…grew up racin in those days and those videos got us tryin crazy shit..

I read about this in "wide open".

That is soo right , doug is da Man.After those 2 injuries,many riders would have retired but he come back and wins the Championship!!!

Used to race amateur and one race I holeshoted but adrenaline kicked in and I didn't let off. Uphill jump to first turn. My dad was at the top filming head on. I almost jumped over the turn. I was still in the air when others were landing. You can hear the crowd in the film going oh shit. Didn't get hurt or anything but I instantly thought of this when the race was done

I wonder if a pro today would have been able to recover from that take off, with modern suspension etc

Doug was one of the riders i looked up to the most when i was growing up racing. Along with Damon Bradshaw and others. Doug didnt bail like a bitch on this jump (even if it was by mistake) He rode it out like a fucking BOSS
