@sumandsubstance7881 Here's my analysis on Bison Dele (Brian Williams). He was a talented player who was fighting severe mental demons. He viewed basketball as a ticket to improve his way of living instead of a profession to build himself as the best basketball player. He was an eccentric personality who enjoyed seeing the world but never loved the basketball life. Remember, he didn't start playing basketball until late into high school. His brother, however, had his own mental problems, and he was jealous of his brother's financial success. It's kind of a Cain and Abel story in real life.

This is the NBA I grew up on, and I miss it so much. (Die hard Pistons fan. Yes I know, rough way to live these days).
Seattle had been making progress leading up to this with Kemp and Payton. 1991- make playoffs 1992- win a playoff series 1993- win 2 playoff series But in 1994, they went backwards. To think an inexperienced Nuggets team beat a SEA team that had made it to Game 7 of the ‘93 West Finals. Heck, Seattle has been in do or die games the prior year with Utah and Houston so it’s not like this was unfamiliar territory

Seattle was definitely the better team they just stepped on their own d*cks. If 70something% free throw shooter Shawn kemp could’ve just made 1 of his 2 free throws in game 4 with 40 some seconds left in regulation when up 3 that probably would’ve been enough to close it out in game 4 with no game 5 necessary and no mutombo laying on the floor image stuck in Seattle fan’s brains forever.

2:34:36 - The iconic moment of Mutombo showing his emotion after pulling off one of the greatest upsets in NBA Playoff history.
I haven’t seen this game in years. Thanks! It was awesome…sheesh, Dikembe’s shot-blocking completely altered this series. He was averaging 4 a game that season. When you average a block a quarter, that’s the ultimate in setting the defensive tone in any game. If they had been better offensively, they’d have reached the conference finals that year, at least.

As i watch this game im reminded at how sloppy games were back then, not alot of pure skill just a bunch of giys playing their butts off, scrappin and hustling and helping each other, no big egos just alot of fun and true competition and desire to win.!!

Im just going to watch these old games now
Not sure I’ve watched a pro basketball team commit so many shot clock violations in one game. Despite that they still won. Great game to watch again. 90’s NBA basketball was fun to watch.
Best of 5 series were the last hope for underdogs to slay Goliath. Best of 7 series are rarely won by the lower seed.
RIP: -> Brian Williams; (April 6, 1969 - July 7, 2002) -> Dick Enberg: (January 9, 1935 - December 21, 2017) -> Steve “Snapper” Jones: (October 17, 1942 - November 25, 2017)
Some would say this is ugly basketball but really I couldnt take my eyes of the screen. So much intensity, hustling and so many plotlines. The Brian William Angle, The decline and disappearnce of rickey pierce, the inability to score on mutambo, robert pack abusing gary payton, Detlef doing it all. man what a game.
The end of this game was like the ending of Avengers: Infinity War. "WTF just happened!"
Seattle Sonics is now OKC Thunder. Hopefully NBC would bring basketball after 23 years.
That theme song OMG, Gave me chills
What's fascinating is also the commentary. Considering the stakes, that reach-in foul with 18 seconds left down by 2 -- I was shocked that the commentators didn't go nuts about how totally unneccessary that foul was. These days you'd hear a lot about how much of a crucial mistake that was, considering they didn't need to foul and would have gotten the ball back no matter what with at least 5 seconds (probably more) left. That really changed Seattle's approach at the last possession as they got more desperate and rushed, instead of just needing to find one good shot.
I remember watching this game
Rest in Peace Dick Enberg, Steve "Snapper" Jones and Bison Dele aka Brian Williams

I remember watching this series back in the day. Watching this I can't believe Seattle didn't run more plays for Detlif and Shawn. Makes no sense, if they would have attack D.M. through out the game and got him in foul trouble they could have won the series.
Seattle shouldve won it all that year.
And incidentally, this was also the final game at the first iteration of the Seattle Coliseum. The arena would be overhauled into what would be known (at the time) as KeyArena at Seattle Center. That iteration would soon be overhauled again, this time into the current Climate Pledge Arena.
